    Amen. There are cases where regular news programming hasn't even projected the need for what Trump has directed.

    And, that is putting us all at greater risk, as hospitals fill.

    The biggest impact will be on the homeless and impoverished in America but they do not have a voice. When it hits Florida and people start dropping like flies THEN you will hear the rattle of political sanctums.

    Death panels??

    They are coming with this virus as we will be forced to weigh who is most likely to have quality of life post icu

    That's because HIV is uniquely among viruses in that replicates in the exact same cells you need to stimulate an immune response to a viral infection to begin with. This hugely complicates the development of any vaccine - although progress is slowly being made.

    Also testing conventional vaccines against viruses is a pretty well understood piece of science. (As opposed to vaccines tacking cancer etc and other illnesses which are a recent phenomenon.)

    As such they can pretty much anticipate side effects. All they will be looking at first is how the bodies immune system responds to the vaccine i.e. does it produce antibodies. If it does they can extract some and see if these antibodies are effective in shutting down the virus in lab tests. This is heaps better than previous decades when they couldn't do this last bit.

    In the old days the only way to tell in the end if a vaccine was likely to work was to give someone the vaccine and then infect them with the disease. Still the person who will really earn their money this time will be the first guy/girl who volunteers to be infected with Covid after being given this test vaccine.

    You're just wrong about that.

    Trish Reagan and Hannity in particular have consistently pitched this as Democratic/left wing media fake news, and that government approaches are overblown and ridiculous.

    True and I am not down playing the difficulties but so many on this forum seem to think we are within days, weeks at most, of a viable vaccine

    Meanwhile Aus scientists have mapped the immune response :p

    Trump had a spring break festival - at Mar-a-Lago on March 8.

    That even included people who had COVID, and now they are working to disinfce the place.

    We have a president who has called for social distancing, testing, etc., but who does not follow that advice.

    Why should poeple follow what he says instead of what he DOES?

    Pop singer Demi Lavato out in public. Uhh is that mask on upside down? Looks like it to me anyways. But I don't have a mask so not sure...

    Maybe we send the vaccine to California first, they seem to be confused on how to counter this :)

    I always wondered about adjuvants. I understand they stimulate the immune system, but I always wondered if adjuvants contribute to the growing threat of auto-immune diseases.
