Most any area will have avenues for volunteer work. You might check with your local hospital, churches, and Congressional office.

When asked to describe the scene in one of the worst hit hospitals in NY, one nurse responded, "How would you describe a zombie apocalypse with words? Because that is what I need to do... She went on to describe the patients being highly distressed, disoriented, fantastically sick, pulling their oxygen... truly a nightmare scenario.

NY has got to get it under control. Cuomo is failing them.

Cuomo is doing a fantastically good job. Anyone who is dissing the NY state effort must work for Trump or Putin or comes from a state that holds Mardi Gras turning the state into the third worst infected area in the country.

If the primaries cannot be completed, then undoubtedly a major draft at the Democratic Convention will result in the selection of Cuomo and Klobuchar, who will then give Trump and the GOP a solid thrashing across the board.

Wow, what would a bad job be? The NYC health commissioner just a few weeks ago was telling people to go out do stuff in NYC.

It had probably already spread before they even started testing.

He was being accused here of fear mongering a week ago. There was an entire thread whining about his warnings.

    What has he done wrong?

Not pounding trump to do his job. Not working to supply the needed beds, personnel, and respirators, before they are critically in need. It sounds to me like he has been doing a great job.

Did he ignore the statisticians and decided what he thinks is going to happen based on a warm fuzzy feeling? Or did he say to ignore complaints from his mayors if they aren't nice to him?

Imagine the rw insanity if Cuomo said to ignore his mayors if they don't show enough appreciation.

Cuomo had ONE job. To stop the flow of traffic when it became obvious(and it was, VERY obvious from about March 5th onward) that NY would be a hotspot. But taking a look at that dreadful map shows that hotspot is now an understatement for NYC.

NY is now an epic disaster zone, it hasn't been this bad since 9/11 for them. So yes, the governor is accountable for waiting 3 weeks before finally giving the order. But it's too late, given NY's busy activity, etc.

We have already observed that the virus can survive pretty much anywhere people come into contact with each other.

Agreed and a smaller population that adheres strictly to the social distancing measures will be another factor in keeping the mortality rate down in Utah.

The virus cannot be contained if there is no national policy.

All other Western countries and China have imposed restrictions that apply to all citizens.

General quarantine and interdiction to go out except in case of emergency.

Countries that didn't do so at the begining of the pandemic have paid the consequences.

Why wasn't it done in U.S.?

You're a supporter of Trump, yes? There is no way Trump supporters would have supported Cuomo stopping traffic flow. Here are Trumps statements leading up to 5th March.

    March 3
The Federal Reserve cuts interest rates by half a point. The stock market continues to slump.
    Mr. Trump said to reporters:
“There’s only one hot spot, and that’s also pretty much in a very — in a home, as you know, in a nursing home.”

    March 6
Cases in the U.S. pass 300 with 17 deaths, including first on the East Coast. Mr. Trump signed an emergency spending bill. Stocks continued to fall.
As he signed the funding bill at the White House, Mr. Trump said:
“And in terms of deaths, I don’t know what the count is today. Is it 11? Eleven people? And in terms of cases, it’s very, very few.

    March 7
Global cases top 100,000. An attendee of a conservative conference that featured Mr. Trump and other top government officials has tested positive.
Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago private club: “Well, we’ll have tremendous rallies. And we’re doing very well. And we’ve done a fantastic job with respect to that subject on the virus.”

Asked whether he was concerned that the virus was getting closer to the White House and Washington D.C., the president responded:
“No, I’m not concerned at all. No, I’m not. No, we’ve done a great job.”

    You took the bait.

Since the nation is Trump's fault, then NY is Cuomo's fault. However, you dems continue to glorify Cuomo and blame Trump for a global pandemic. Can't have it both ways. Cuomo is in charge of his state.

The nation isn't Trump's fault. However, Trump badly handled the initial response by downplaying the threat and claiming it would go away by April (like a miracle). Trump didn't take this seriously until his disastrous Wednesday press conference where the market dropped 2,500 points the next day.

I haven't seen Cuomo make similar mistakes.

I see, you think this is some kind of childish game. No, Cuomo has always taken this seriously from day 1. He has responded in every way that he can. And he never trivialized the threat. Trump told people not to worry. It will magicially go away.

Are you capable of understand this or not?

The Executive Branch may not have Constitutional authority to shut down the country, state governors do.

    It's the Governors' fault now.

How did Bush manage to ground all the planes on the morning of 9/11?

He's had the approval of every governor in the country?
