WHO stated that they did NOT have any evidence of DIRECT human to human infection AT THAT STAGE but they did NOT rule it out either.

They also said that they were reporting what the Chinese told them.

 

Makes one wonder at what point they will stop ignoring the facts?

When a loved one is on a ventilator or they are on one themselves?

 

I think this crisis is going to put an end to the rw war on science and facts. They are going to be held responsible for possibly tens of thousands of deaths. They told people to ignore the threat. Many did and many will surely die as a result. Their families and family lawyers are going to descend on the rw media like flies on dead bodies.

 

I am not going to discuss Trump, as I find him too transparent and obvious to leave much room for genuine debate.

But regarding China, on the one hand, and the WHO on the other hand, I will say the following:

1- China took draconian measures that can't be totally replicated elsewhere. But unlike those who don't trust their facts and figures regarding this virus, I don't have reason to seriously doubt them on this issue. Any underestimation or error on their part would be similar to what you will find elsewhere. That said, there are plenty of people who will not be happy with some of China's culinary practices for good reason and, especially for those who often look for scapegoats in the face of tragedy, blaming all this on China will be a popular sell.

2- The WHO did NOT acquit itself well in the early period in dealing with this pandemic. They were behind the curve and took certain positions which were totally foolish. Especially the fact that, well into the epidemic, they were still against travel restrictions. That doesn't mean that the WHO is to blame for this pandemic, or that you can compare them at all to the "Trump cult" and Trump mouthpieces who are seldom bothered by any fact or figure and only like to read off their propaganda scripts. But I wouldn't give the WHO high grades for the way they handled the issue in the beginning either. And I don't blame the Chinese for their failures in this regard. If anything, the WHO basically follows the script that happens to be in vogue in Europe.

 

With respect to early detection and prevention in the US, It is all moot anyway. We knew it was here by Jan 20.

There has been a lot of news about lack of ventilators. It would be interesting to see what the benefits for those who were put on ventilators has been. He wasn't taking it serious when he talked about it in the state of the union address (Feb 4th) saying the federal government would take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens?
What about Feb 10th when he had a governors meeting to discuss the virus and logistics to insure every state had an open channel to the federal government task force, we had a12 cases at this point.
What about Feb 25th when he announced he'll be asking congress for a relief bill?,
Feb 25th he announced daily CDC briefings for America, lead by Pence. All before America's first Wuhan virus death on the Feb 29th.

Anyone claiming it wasn't taken seriously would literally have to have been stuck in impeachment mode or living in a cave.
