How this ends is a confusing issue to me. I suspect it will take a while to know what the situation will be in the next many months.

We don't know what level of immunity is retained by those who live. We don't know for sure how fast it might evolve - though it seems slow according to some researchers. We don't have any treatment at present, and the candidate Trump bragged about has risks associated with it - arythmia, for one . And, it will be many months before any of the candidate vaccines proves to be real.

China (where stats are somewhat in question) started opening up their restrictions and then has clamped down again on some areas. I wonder what that shows.

I'd sure like to know what medical and economic experts are thinking about as they plan for how the economy might be reopened.

LOL!! I'm just so totally over the the right wing blaming stuff on "fake news".

I have plenty of interests outside of politics - It would be great to share a beer with anyone on this board.

That's why we're not supposed to be going out. If anyone in your house does go out, they should do full decontamination before re-entering. Best option is to undress down to undergarments OUTSIDE (leaving all garments/shoes/bags etc outside for at least 24hrs, or until they can be sanitised), sanitise hands up to elbows, then head straight for shower. It goes without saying that nothing from outside your house should be taken inside your house until either 48hrs have elapsed, or you've decontaminated them. That includes mail, groceries .. anything at all.

Better option .. don't go out.

In my home I'm the only one who goes out - for groceries once a week and that's it.

And, yes. Everyting gets cleaned when I return, including me and the groceries - but NOT like Kramer on Seinfeld!

Good practice. Even better if you can avoid that once a week groceries run! Try to buy enough for two or three weeks at a time.

Tell that to Trump, RushBo, the Govs of FL, TX, Hannity, and the rest.

And, I don't just shop for me, and not everyone has it together.

If you want to risk you and yours that's your affair but when you risk us and ours then it becomes our affair.

Let me put it this way:

Your race is in danger of extinction.
The unprecedented opportunity has come upon you to save the race by sitting at the TV doing nothing. If you cannot do that, you better be extincted!

Unfortunately, this death cult is more likely to transmit the disease to others, who are more vulnerable, than to suffer the ill effects themselves.

The "I'm going to get people killed because I don't like being told what to do" nutsos will probably extend the need for stay-at-home for at least a month or two longer than we otherwise would have needed.

House cats: as self-absorbed as they are, still more responsible than the spring breakers and conspiracy nutsos putting lives at risk because they feel pouty.

The difference between being blind sheep and being a free thinker is being able to break from the pack. It's knowing when to stop listening to the government I was at a birthday party last night. We gave hugs, poured drinks, and none of us were sick. The idea you have to stay at home is ridiculous. And I'm downright serious about everything I've typed. It's a civic duty of every American to disobey these frivolous stay at home orders, coast to coast. From California to New York. Whether you fulfill that civic duty or not is up to you, but one thing that will be exposed is the kind of character you have.

I still work in these times, and yes I have every intention of working if I tested positive. I've worked through the regular flu before, this is no different. Again, we are not in a life or death situation here. I did the math, and we haven't reached the global total of fatalities from the Swine Flu. Let's stop letting the government think for us, tell us what to do, and thin for ourselves. And stay safe.

People like you are the reason we'll have the distancing order for months instead of weeks. You clearly don't understand the disease. If you did, you wouldn't be doing such stupid things.

Well, hopefully you stay safe and are no harm to others. Nature can be brutal to those that don't recognize it's power.

Basically every governor that has put a stay-at-home order in place, not as much Trump. Some of this reads like overkill, let's dive into a couple. I use Tide Pods on laundry which have three different cleaning agents in it. Using a detergent like that, you won't need to do your laundry any differently before the outbreak. Packaging can easily be disposed and does not itself have to be disinfected. For example, you bring a bag of apples home. You take those apples out of the bag,put them in the fridge, you toss away the bag. Wash your hands (because I'm assuming you've touched the trash can), that's really it when it comes with dealing with packaging you've brought home from the grocery store. I'm just getting these funny images in my head of spraying or wiping Clorox all over cereal boxes and beverages.

It's good advice, but the entire house doesn't need disinfected based off of one trip. It's common sense, wash your hands and don't touch your face. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I do understand the disease, that's how I know social distancing won't be what kills it off. And I also know our world has encountered diseases from the same family in the past, and we haven't taken near extreme measures. The White House's estimate of 100,000-200,000 Americans dying from this disease isn't anymore than fear mongering at this point. How? The global death count from this disease hasn't reached the total of the last pandemic, let alone the US. I'll stand corrected if we reach that many fatalities but its certainly not looking like that will be the case. So, either I'm thinking more clearly than Dr. Fauci or I just haven't given in emotionally to such speculation. Especially after reviewing the graphs in one of Zorro's links, that makes this high fatality estimate all the more unlikely.

This is a great post, written by someone who understands what's happening. Some of you are comparing a year's worth of data against this disease. The numbers are much much higher in a much shorter time frame. Have a look.

Okay, I stand corrected as to which virus is deadlier. As high as those numbers might look, the precautions are really, if not exclusively, for those 55 and older (the elderly) or the immune comprised. The people who can actually die from this, in which case is the only reason COVID-19 would be a life or death situation. Other than that, you really have nothing to worry about. Your immune system will kill this off, you'll be short of breath for maybe a week and then your system will recover. And you'll be immune to such a virus afterward.

So, after all that said, I still ask what's keeping people from enjoying their lives, gathering or not/? Everyone would be a greater risk of dying if Yellowstone were going to blow, in this case its only a certain section of the population. Whatever gathering you're planning, enjoy. You only live once.
