When you said old people get their news via tv as opposed to younger people, what was your point? Older lib people would still get their news via TV, right? So where are they and what are they watching?

Ok, you appear to attempt to write off CNN's poor audience by saying young people get their news from other sources and old people are the ones who get it from TV. My question was and still is, why aren't the older liberals who still get their news via TV not watching CNN? if old people get their news via TV and they're liberals, then what channel are they watching?

 

CNN is liquefied Human waste. It's why their ratings are circling the bowl and headed down with the rest of the turds. In another year or two, they will cease to exist.

One million viewers during primetime is pretty far away from zero, MSNBC is much more liberal and have almost double the viewership that CNN does. When you account by age these numbers much more closely align. NBC beats them all.

Why don't you just come out and admit that the older people, people who are presumably wiser and more experienced, who get their news from TV aren't watching CNN. Instead, these old and wise people watch channels they can trust.

I think the question you are asking is complex and there are a lot variables that would contribute to answering your question. I will try to address this in an unbiased manner. I do not watch any 24/7 cable new channel. Occasionally I see some clips from all of the channels on youtube or linked to articles but the only time I ever turn on one of these channels is when I am traveling overseas and CNN is usually one of the few English speaking channels.
For starters I disagree with your premise that people watch news that they trust. I think people watch news that presents a narrative they agree with.

Part of the problem that CNN faces is the country has become very partisan or at least the audience that watches cable news has. Foxnews seems to have a solid hold on the audience that wants news presented with a conservative narrative. Going from memory I think they had anywhere from 40-50% of the total news viewing audience. MSNBC seems to be targeting their narrative to the establishment liberal viewers. I think they usually carry more than half of the share that does not watch Fox. That really leaves less than a quarter of the viewers available for CNN and they have to compete with network news channels or what for that remaining share. So usually, rating wise they are at the lower end of the numbers for cable news channels. CNN does not really have a large audience that craves their narrative. (Conservatives obviously think they are too liberal and liberals don't think they are liberal enough).

In my opinion one of the saddest things that has happened with the Trump presidency is he has sold the idea of fake news to the masses. As I stated I believe all news sources tailor their narrative to their target audience but the idea of fake news is extreme. My question to people that strongly believe CNN is fake news, do you think if we picked an unbiased group of people, (journalist), to create a set of standards and applied them to a computer algorithm to determine when a story is a fake or true. And we run this unbiased computer program over every story reported by every outlet. Are you willing to bet that CNN still comes up on top as the channel with the highest amount of fake news?

 

The Fake News Networks should go 24/7 with re-runs of the Trump impeachment hearings. I know they lost in the end but it's the only thing the Dems have done since they took control of the house. You want to play to your strength.

CNN has lost al objectivity and even the appearance of it. They us to call their Trump hit pieces "Opinions" now they call them "Analysis"

Not as bad as MSNBC but not a reliable new source at all any longer.

First, fox news is as biased as MSNBC — it is intellectually lacking to argue it is trustworthy — and many studies have shown it’s viewers are actually less informed than other groups. Getting biased news from only one source is ignorance, not wisdom which does not necessarily follow age.

Second, many elderly people — even on this very forum — indicate they do not care what happens as long as they are taken care of as they will not be around longer. The most selfish and nationalist generation will go down in history for the damage they have caused this nation.
