    Of course. Outside at home (or very locally, if you don't live in an urban area) is best. I spend most of my day outside.

    New Zealand is very close to it already, and Australia isn't far behind. May not be zero, but it's down to around 0.53% growth. That's pretty darned good.

    And the information from the Red Chinese and WHO was bogus. US medical experts realized after Italy blew up in the first week of March. The US began the 15 day “guidelines and shutdown” in the second week of March. That was followed by a 30 day extension.

    The only nations that have not shutdown their economies are Japan and Sweden.

    Actually South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong did not shutdown as well. The difference is that they did not believe the bogus Red Chinese Communist government and WHO dishonest and incomplete information.

    We always refer to “vitamins and minerals”. So they are lumped together.

    Viruses mutate a tiny bit with each new host, but all those mutations tend to stay within the bands of being identifiable as falling under broad categorical strains, like L-type or S-type.

    They usually mutate to get less deadly. Having a lot of asymptomatic people is a good sign. It means we aren't going to keel over dead if we inhale one tiny virus particle.

    Mutating is what viruses do.

    The first claim
    This criticism concerns the claim that there are two clearly definable “major types” of SARS-CoV2 in this outbreak and that they have differentiable transmission rates.

    Tang et al. term these two types L and S type: “two major types (L and S types): the S type is ancestral, and the L type evolved from S type. Intriguingly, the S and L types can be clearly defined by just two tightly linked SNPs at positions 8,782 (orf1ab: T8517C, synonymous) and 28,144 (ORF8: C251T, S84L).”

    Summary
    Given these flaws, we believe that Tang et al. should retract their paper, as the claims made in it are clearly unfounded and risk spreading dangerous misinformation at a crucial time in the outbreak.

    It's Greek to me, but I don't think these guys agree.

    What do you mean by 'economies'? New Zealand has had probably the toughest restrictions.

    Yeah, about three weeks ago there was an article that scientists were tracking eight different strains. I think someone posted the map and the article.

    It doesn't really matter if there are 2, 3, 8 or 100. They are all SARS-Cov-2 viruses and there is some difference, but very little. The largest factor is whether we need a different vaccine recipe for each identified type.

    If the virus acts like other viruses, this one will become less lethal with time and the evolution of mutations.

    Japan, Sweden, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong did not close their businesses. There were restrictions but nothing like Europe and the US where all non essential businesses and large gathering venues like churchs, parks, and golf courses were closed.

    The study has not been peer reviewed. I would be interested in hearing what Dr. Stephan Smith and Dr. Didier Raoult have to say on the VA study.

    South Korea, Hong kong, and Taiwan did exponentially larger amounts of testing at the start of their outbreaks. T

    And most importantly, had a very high rate of public compliance with social distancing/isolation. They easily achieved the 80% minimum.

    I believe that was my link. And you are right to notw that the mutations seen thus far are minimal. The most divergent types of the virus only differed from each other by 12 base pairs out of ~30,000.

    The virus is extremely successful right now and is under almost zero evolutionary pressure to mutate.

    Unfortunately, public compliance in US/Europe has been nowhere near adequate. Closing certain businesses and activities won't help much if people won't comply by staying at home. They just find other places to go and different things to do.

    Generally UNWISE, such as;

    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump

    So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!

    ---------------------

    Endless examples!

    America has succeeded in the goal of being able to provide medical service to every patient in need. That was the goal. An 80-90% quarantine was never the goal here. Every country is choosing their own route.

    Where is the proof of that ??? Here in the US we flattened the curve. Everyone who needed first class care received it. Now it’s time to go back to work.

    Why the dodge on Sweden et. al. ???

    There's your problem.

    PS: that you're still able to torque that into some kind of win is phenomenal. but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.

    Studies have been and are still being done. America has a very low rate of compliance .. at the very best it's only 52%. Italy and Spain had the same problems, so eventually had to force compliance via law. Too late, obviously.

    And even if it were the goal, can you imagine the resistance? Yeah, what China did in Wuhan is only possible by Russian means. Everyone else has a moral debate, and that debate is a part of healthy society.

    No idea what that means, sorry. Sweden is a disaster. So is the UK.
