The impact of the coronavirus-induced economic shutdown tore through the U.S. labor market in April at historic levels, slashing 20.5 million workers from nonfarm payrolls and sending the unemployment rate skyrocketing to 14.7%, the Labor Department reported Friday.

Both numbers easily smashed post-World War II era records and help reflect the profound damage done through efforts used to combat the virus.

    Trump's Roaring Economy.

At this point, the only way to turn things around is to DEFEAT TRUMP in November.

The Economy will never turn around until after Trump is gone.

These historic numbers prove that Trump is presiding over the Worst Economy since WW2.

    Very sad. Thoughts?

Please don’t pretend that the Corona virus has nothing to do with this just to meet your political agenda. Don’t be so desperate

    Thank you China.

Trump is clearly the best choice to rebuild the economy after this is over. :salute:

    Yes.
Only hyper-partisans, who hold an intolerant devotion to their prejudices, believe Trump is to blame for the unemployment numbers.

    Trump didn't shut down businesses.

    State governors did.

    Lol. NO.

    Trump MUST be Defeated.

Trump would be the WORST person to preside over the rebuilding of the Economy.

Trump has caused over 20 million jobs lost...

Trump has caused the 14.7% unemployment rate...

Trump inherited a great economy from Obama (and Trump rode the coattails of Obama's Economy).

Obama is the one who was responsible for the Great Economy from 2017-Early 2020.

^That is Universally accepted (and inarguable).

    This is TRUMP'S Economy:

    20.5 Million Jobs Lost/14.7% Unemployment.

    Thanks alot, Trump!

Save the Economy = DEFEAT Trump.:flagus:

So trump didnt do enough soon enough or close enough of the economy and you blame trump for unemployment? This is a joke. The reason unemployment is high is because of government intervention. Also the majority of people on unemployment still have a job. Wait 2 months and check back with the unemployment rate. I'd bet it's much lower if not back to normal levels by then if they let him open the US back up. The reason the economy is doing bad is because they arent letting him open the economy back up. Yet here you are blaming trump with no evidence suggesting he was the cause. No proof, nada, ziltch, nothing. In your eyes trump was the cause for virus and the economy. When every country has had similar rates we've had death wise and the only reason we have the most cases is because we do the most testing.

And that only counts the lost jobs through April 18th as the reporting week extends from April 12th through April 18th.
Tramp has lost another 11+ million jobs since April 18th with two more weeks before the next reporting week.

Trump promised 5% growth rate and delivered 2.3%... before the pandemic.

He didn't do any better than Obama.

He won't be reelected for the same reasons you criticized Obama's economic record.

    You're right about that.

The fact remains that the US will soon have, per capita, the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world.

And Trump is directly responsible for that disaster.

You'll have to pray hard that the millions of newly unemployed and mourning family members will give this clown another term.

Leaders always bear responsibility when their country has the worst record in the world.

The Italian PM will surely be defeated in the next elections, as will Spain and UK.

Trump will be punished at the polls as well.

In the reality in which we live, it's indeed Trump who is President at the time of the worst pandemic since 1919.

And the results show that his crisis management was catastrophic.

Too many lies to respond to. Funny how before the virus the LW said this was Obama's economy.
