Conservatives are always telling us we should judge people by their character.

By their skills, their achievements, their education. By their job performance.

And yet, many Conservatives ALSO want the right to hire or fire someone, simply due to their religion, their race, their ethnicity, their sexuality.

Why would they want such a right??? It just doesn't make sense.

I believe a person should be free to associate with and do business with whomever they choose for whatever reasons.

rejecting a job applicant, who is 100% qualified and experienced for the job, simply because they are a christian, is totally immoral and unAmerican.

America is supposed to be the land of opportunity, where we let go of the evil prejudices of the past and the Old World.

You mean like America where our government provides tax credits to businesses who hire minority contractors but not white ones?

Why don’t we end legalized discrimination that occurs today instead of dreaming up things that might come to be.

its not a strawman, when folks in this very thread are supporting it

Dayton wants the right to discriminate against anyone he likes, for whatever reason he likes.

    thereby confirming the OP.

a white man and a black man, with the exact same skills, education, qualifications, should be treated equally as far as hiring for a job.

So discrimination against the people that YOU think should be discriminated against is cool. But if the right does it, they need to be stopped?

i dont believe in discrimination against people for who they are and things they cannot control.

like race, age, sex, nationality, ethnicity, sexuality, etc.

So then the government essentially paying businesses (through tax credits) to hire black people but not paying them to hire white people should end. Right?

Anyone saying that is stupid. Unfortunately loosely knit groups will see stupidity amongst its ranks.

There appears to be a very serious fear of being 'outnumbered' in population by some. And that drives much of the thinking and positions I see.
