So far, deaths in TX are ~<1% of cases reported. And as folks are more widely tested, those numbers are going down.

I see, so because I point out states like TX have their heads up their arses, that makes me a "lefty". Comical. Thanks for the laugh. States that re-opened smartly have significantly lower avg day cases now than those that arrogantly re-opened too fast. Now businesses in those states have to close again. Brilliant move TX.
TX will be fine. But we will certainly remember who put the folks of our state at risk.
Texas, according to worldmeters.
    9,694 COVID-19 deaths
based on Current projection scenario by October 1, 2020.

    Which includes current deaths.

Where are you sourcing your projections?

I'm also assuming since we have agressive testing now with no symptoms being required, that a much younger segment of the population is testing positive, which has a much lower fatality rate.

there have been several studies showing that masks do very much reduce the spread of flu and other related viruses.

My favorite are the selfish idiots who attack you for wearing a mask.

i hope everyone who doesnt wear a mask in an urban or suburban area with a Covid outbreak, catches the virus and feels like crap for a week or two.

it would be a good lesson

You are a lefty. Your posting reflects it. States that didn't protect themselves smartly, by stopping the flow of international travelers when they had a chance were entirely negligent. And they put the rest of us at risk. And when places like TX did lock down. for OVER A MONTH, why didn't that protect us? And when out of state agitators took the virus out of those effected areas like NY, CA, WA, NJ, etc, and spread it throughout the land, where was your criticism then? And now, because you can bemoan others, you're now suggesting that states, like TX and others who "re-opened too fast" for your liking are a problem? Really? It sure sounds like that's a political position on your part. So, in your estimation, entirely ruining the economy was going to be more preferable to you? Why? That sounds like an agenda. It sounds like you actually wanted to see unemployment and bankruptcies sky rocketing in the country. That sounds, well, destructive. Why is that? Because you now call those folks out how didn't play by our book "arrogant"? Laughable.

Careful what you wish for here. For all those that participated in the BLMs protests, your call might sound a lot like racism... or worse, if those folks start dying... genocide...

the call to stop all lockdowns and mask requirements, is a call for genocide.

they want people to die so that only the young and healthy survive.

It didn't start here. It was brought here. And after over a month of being locked down... that wasn't enough? Folks started with "just two weeks" and everything would be fine... then, after moving the goal posts.. just a couple more weeks... then a couple more.... and so on. At some point, folks have to be able to make a living. Why are you against that?

Wear a mast on your own volition. If you think it is magic, who's to say you're wrong? But one thing is for sure, for those who wear them, should they become infected, will you take on the liability of being wrong?

LOL... does it bother you that you are so often wrong? Our hospitals aren't overwhelmed, nor are we running out of capacity in our hospitals. But stupid reporting you believe... Got it.

Thank you for this post and your previous one on the subject. We have similar conversations going on locally with the attacks on Floridas response and Governor DeSantis. Sure we would like lower numbers too, but none of us feel like the response has been bad, we've all made choices on how to protect ourselves and in most examples people can only do so much due to job description and not being able to just walk away.

I think some people are Ignoring the fact that there is a literal army of people that are keeping the system moving, they wouldn't like it if the "essentials" took a few days or a few weeks off as a precaution. And essentials are massively more numerous than some people think.

Beware, your state may be next in line. There is no guarantee out there that this wont just work it's way through the population like it appears to be doing.

When Texas had the first shutdown, I looked at the list of "essential" workers (to see if I should go to work). The list was so long that I thought it would have been far easier to do a shorter list of who is "non-essential".

It seems to be working its way in states that weren't wearing masks and re-opened too quickly. But you're probably right that, as a result of those states being irresponsible, that it will spread to states that are being responsible.

No one could possibly have been more irresponsible than Di Blasio and Cuomo. And, yes, the virus spread from there to the rest of the country.
