https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cn...-small-business-loan-recipients-released.html So it looks like we bailed out alot of big fishes and banks and people tied to the government and now they're dragging their feet on doing anymore....... why help the little guys when you got yours??
This is not surprising, you either qualified or you didnt. The majority of people I knew that received ppp money didnt need it, business didnt slow down and in some cases pi pickednup. However, they arent fools, they applied and received funds, easy money. Side note: weren't trump businesses exempt from qualifying? If yes, seems a bit hypocritical, eh?
"business didnt slow down and in some cases pi pickednup." How was that possible with the stay at home orders? Of course if your business had enough clout they could basically buy themselves around them but for everyone else...
Bad autocorrect sorry. in some cases, didnt slow down but business actually picked up. There are many companies that didnt suffer, not one bit. This is a surprise?
Like bars bowling alleys hobby shops hair salons gyms movie theaters parks pools etc sporting good stores, book stores, malls?
So, if people working in government, and not even tired to voting for the legislation, their private businesses should be excluded? What exactly is the compliant?
Pretty clearly that these people tied to government got their money right now right now right now it didn't work (see unemployment numbers) and now the their interests are covered from the first stimulus the politicians sit idly by when it comes to the average people. Even more they ( Mitch McConnell) are talking about giving up peoples right to sue a business if they get sick... seems like hes not negotiating on our behalf
Just declared presidential candidate Kanye West's Yeezy Brand received millions in loans from the stimulus package.
Those would be bad examples, more like Liquor stores, cleaning service, deli, grocery stores, home improvement, hardware, insurance and financial, landscape supply, real estate (around me). These are just a few examples that I know of but there are many others that felt zero impact, I'm sure Google could provide more, like mask makers.
I'm not trying to come across condescending but I'm talking about the entire economy not just the few (mostly mega corporations) that thrived
Well from the information I have at hand who received it but as to ppp in general I think I'd need to see how the federal money affected layoffs in the companies how received the money This article isn't giving me much hope https://www.cbsnews.com/news/payche...ll-businesses-plan-layoffs-despite-ppp-funds/ But it is a survey and I'd like concrete numbers before I completely rush to judgement
I was talking about the PPP, that was what the thread was about, and the fact that you dont have have lost business or employees to receive funds. The concept of PPP was good, but literally encouraged abuse. (If you want to label it abuse, some call it smart business) So ya, some very profitable businesses collected ppp, some small business didnt lose money but collected anyway, when you are giving away cash the line forms quickly and grows long. And yes, the economy got slammed, this has been covered at length.
I took out a ppp loan, didn't need it, and my business did, in fact, pick up... it certainly helped me accomplish some things that would have required either time or a higher interest loan to accomplish. It's business, it's math. ------------------------------------ That said, I regard all of this to be unconstitutional. I wouldn't have taken out the ppp if I had any confidence our nation would survive, but I see the writing on the wall. America will cease to exist within 10 years - that is to say our Constitution is under intense attack from the left, and will be abandoned and replaced with an authoritarian charter within 10 years. It's inevitable, it's math.
"The concept of PPP was good, but literally encouraged abuse. (If you want to label it abuse, some call it smart business)" This I whole heartedly agree with
Good. I forget what we disagreed about to be honest. It wasnt my intent to imply that struggling business weren't struggling, just that the program had flaws. One person (fairly wealthy) I know collected 35k to bail out his business that was shut down, totally legit, and another 50k to "bail" out his business that actually grew during the shutdown. Hes not a fool, it was big money for about 8 hours worth of paperwork. I dont blame other businesses for doing the same. The only criteria was that you had payroll. My cousin got 13k to not lay off himself, he is the only employee. He wasnt sure if he could lay himself off and collect unemployment so he went the PPP route instead, because he was still busy.
I cant fault people for paying by the rules given even if they dont make sense... What's your view on the floated payroll tax cut?
I can not fault the businesses as the government basically said here is free money. Businesses by default are amoral and for self benefit regardless of what is “right” or for the benefit of the nation. Politicians, especially the one that said “I’ll be the oversight” get the direct blame.
The megachurch Pence recently visited, who's pastor is a Dirty Donald fan, got millions in loans which may not have to be repaid.
Generally speaking I'd prefer a payroll tax increase, although now seems like a bad time to suggest that.
I commend you for your OP. Unfortunately, the Trump supporters care not for the little businesses struggling without support from our Govt. They care only for Trump and him winning a 2nd term. Nothing more.
