I did not contract it, but I was extremely careful about what I did and where I went, staying in my house most of the time.

Not all the protesters....just the organization and money behind it.

Coronavirus: COVID Deaths In U.S. By Age, Race

By Alex Berezow, PhD — June 23, 2020

    Excerpt:

Risk of Death from Coronavirus: COVID-19 Infection Fatality Rate (IFR)

None of the above data answers the question, "What is my risk of dying from coronavirus if I get infected?" For that, we need to look at the infection fatality rate (IFR), which is the percentage of people who die given that they are infected. (This includes people with asymptomatic infections or those who are infected but never get tested.) One group believes the range is 0.1% to 0.41% (with a point estimate of 0.28%). Another group, which examined deaths in Geneva, Switzerland, concluded that the overall IFR is 0.38% to 0.98% (with a point estimate of 0.64%.)

Of course, IFR varies depending on age. Young people are far less likely to die than older people. The Swiss study estimated IFR's by age group:

While coronavirus is obviously concerning and a very real threat to some people (namely, the elderly and immunocompromised), these data also show that the risk for the rest of the population is quite low.

Very little testing was done in Amsterdam when I showed all the classic symptoms. I was uncomfortable but I lived my life and the Netherlands is none the worse for it.

I think people who have symptoms should be careful because of how little we know about long-term effects. It's not just about dying.

A lot of the protests have been spontaneous.

BLM is a strongly left organization but they don't control the people in the street.

Very true. You can get extreme fatigue, and long-term damage too. We don't know enough about the virus yet. All this bravado is just plain stupid.

    Of course.

I was sick of the Pneumonia about 12 years ago, but at first didn't know that, got sicker and sicker, then began to have some problems breathing, and barely moving. Then to the emergency room I went, there is when I realized it was Pneumonia, a shot and some medication, it cleared up rather fast.

Got sick of it again about 5 years later, but this time I can spot it, thus went in much earlier, got the medication, it quickly went away..

It's not just about dying. There are long-term health consequences.

Mostly those who got very sick, were the ones who who have lasting damage. Many who were only mildly sick recovered quite well.

Sounds like a bacterial version. Have you had the pneumonia vaccines? Some friends of ours continue getting pneumonia they first picked up in China years ago.

They should be quarantined, electronically monitored and checked on. Violations should be punished with jail terms.

I was replying to your reasonable statement:

It's not just incompetence. Government is serving business interests. Imagine opening Disney World in the middle of the pandemic in Florida. That's corruption, not incompetence.

You may not like it, but people have a fear of getting sick. You're not going to change that easily. Countries all over the world are acting to suppress the virus.

What you don't seem to understand is that people pull back from shopping and spending when a lot of virus is around.

Trumpers know the Orange Oaf is the problem because they focus on the China travel ban, the one early move he made.

Chronic politicizing, fervent attacks on the President, and each other in Congress, finger pointing, blame game can inly result in disunity and weaker response to the China Virus danger, Second guessing every move doesn't help anyone, promotes just more divisiveness.

Then leave the bars closed and restaurants limited to takeout. We need to put the brakes on the nonstop bar trolling knots of guys and knots of gals do.
We don't know if immunity lasts long enough for us to build "herd immunity" in the population.

We cannot be perfectly safe In any case. Let’s worry about real things like how to pay our rent and what will surely kill us. Not this!

I disagree. The incompetence was forcing business closures in the first place. We fought a crisis by creating a new worse one. Common sense tells you that was stupid and incompetent.

I’ve begun spraying strangers not practicing social distancing with scotchgard. I’m now a vigilante for safety. But I’m careful to hose them down with isopropyl alcohol first and hog tying them until they dry. We can’t afford caution in this fight with a minor virus.

They may not die from it, however they pass it on to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems and keep in mind some will have life-long medical issues as a result of having contracted it as well.

If you tried doing that where I live, you'd have the life expectancy of a sheet of kleenex.
