Gee...the red states now being crushed by this virus are having the same medical stockpiles problems NY had...and they've had time to deal with it...when NY didn't.

And here is what we got from that "Italy lesson" from Trump

What is the date and location of that random photo?

New York City at one point had over 1,000 deaths every day. Talk to me about that when any other city in the U.S. reaches than grim benchmark.

Every state made decisions on whether to put funds back over the years, or to spend every tax payer dime and borrow against future taxes.

Perhaps Texans are not panicking because have a cushion which was saved for emergencies, while Cuomo is begging the federal taxpayers to reimburse him for NY's lack of basic economic wisdom. Piggy bank savings versus pork fat overspending makes a difference in a time of unexpected crisis.

That's early March in Kennedy Airport after Trump belatedly shut down travel from Europe.

There was NO social distancing and no isolation or follow up

That was WHY NY got hit so bad. And it was the same in many other international airports

Meanwhile in Dallas, TX, this daily activity across the city is approaching 60 days.

No justice. No peace. While the young people seek justice, their grandmas and grandpas are getting peace. Permanently.

Okay, thanks. No one ever seems to put a date/location reference on that.

So, as long as any foreign travel, or even intrastate, is allowed this virus will continue to spread, which was a point of the OP. It can't be stopped, lockdowns or not.

Cuomo just did a lousy job. NY's death toll was exacerbated by his action of throwing infected elderly people into nursing homes with the uninfected. He also didn't pause the subway for regular cleanings and disinfection until well into May. NY's high infections are not on him. The extreme death toll is his doing.

Highest death count in Texas yesterday was in Hidalgo county. What's up with that?

Who isn't taking the virus seriously? For the most part, it's the young.

    1) Not true, dozens of countries have slowed it to a crawl.

    2) NY made some mistakes early on. They learned and came up with an effective defense. You are about to go through that same learning process, just a hell of a lot slower.

This disease is going to burn your money, your medical system, and your economy. As I have told you repeatedly, you're in for it.

Case loads and deaths rose and fell in order of who was first exposed.

Grocery stores and retail stores here were packed with hardly anyone practicing social distancing and not many wearing masks as they paw through grocery items and retail goods.

There has been no correlation of lockdown to case load success. In fact the opposite case can be made.

Bunch of cross-border travel from infected Mexican residents visiting friends and family of U.S. residents of Mexican heritage. Non-citizens come here to emergency rooms when they're sick. That's been the case for decades. California probably has a bigger problem with that, but it's the same issue. The southern border spread of the virus is not related to the youth "gatherings" in the big cities in the rest of the state.

The Rio Grande Valley is probably least prepared with hospital space. I keep looking for Abbott to have to announce some sort of pop-up medical centers down there.

None of that contradicted anything I wrote.

Texas curve is already starting to flatten. We'll see if it's a temporary stall, with time.

At close to 10,000 cases a day...

It's going to stay high, and that is going to cost you.

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not going to spend any significant portion of my day worrying over the virus numbers. Life is too short, virus or not. I am more worried over the impending economic catastrophe.

Still, enjoy what you can every day you can.

The virus is driving the economic malaise, and the economy will be crap until we get the virus under control.

No sir. The lockdowns are driving the economic malaise, which will turn into unmitigated global disaster if businesses don't open up. Businesses are going bankrupt and shutting down permanently. The longer we wait, the more companies will be forced to shutter for good, and the more people who will not have a job to return to. What then?

Europe is restarting, we're looking at new lockdowns...

We've already made that mistake once, opening back up before we lowered the infection rate.

Doing it again... not such a hot idea.

More Trumper whataboutism: don't criticize Texas because NY had a problem containing an outbreak. Egads.

Not all of "we" are looking at new lockdowns. NY's Cuomo/DiBlasio is considering it. Texas' Abbott is not, unless, the recent mask mandate doesn't work and hospitals get overrun (which they are not yet).

Between soaring crime and economic lockdowns in notable Democratic-run states, people are fleeing ill-managed states like New York and California for opportunities at financial survival in states like Texas and Florida.

Not only did Cuomo/DeBlasio kill tens of thousands of people, they're bankrupting their citizens and letting criminals run the city.

Criticize Texas all you wish. I look forward to meeting you in person in a year or two when you, too, move here for a job. :D
