Well.... I'm not a rightie but heres one reason...Because its selfish and exclusive. All lives matter. Not just Black Lives.
Agree, but if say....a Methodist slaughtered a Presbyterian in a predominate Methodist Community, I can see why the Presbyterians might say, 'Presbyterian lives matter.'
Back to the protest... what makes it so necessary to practice a nationalistic ritual before a professional "sports" event? What do overpaid latter-day gladiators have to do with the history of the struggle for freedom represented by America's anthem?
Difference of course is that odds are they wouldn't say that. Just demand that the perp be arrested and only focus on the perp and not assign blame to the entire Methodist group.
Disagree. Stating that Presbyterian lives matter is NOT a general attack on the Methodists. For me, it is what it is....a simple statement of fact, just like "All lives matter." It is not a War Cry as some wankers are trying to make it. I oppose the crap going on in Portland where the local Cops are NOT DOING THE JOB THEY SWORE THEY WOULD DO, notwithstanding the stupid Mayor, but I'll support peaceful demonstration every day.
Actually, America’s so called national anthem is a dodgy piece of jingoist crapola written by a slaver. Check it out. I think America the Beautiful should be our national anthem.
The entire thing could be changed, that isn't the point. What does it serve to reduce patriotism to a commercial enterprise event?
I normally do one game a year, last year we dropped $500. Miami vs cubs 13 or 14 innings I forget. I have season tickets to spring training, $3400 that i give to customers. I can't give them away if they are political any more than I'd give away maga hats. This will end it for me rather quickly.
Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels. What else do you expect of people who claim to be patriotic yet hate over half of their countrymen? When growing up, we pledged allegiance to the flag every morning in public school. It was a form of meditation on what it means to be part of a country. It made you think.
Maybe you can use your free time to meditate on the wisdom of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Look at where pandering to trump has brought you. Haven’t you had enough of his racist demagoguery?
It is an attack when part of that rallying cry is to denounce the Methodists as a whole. Which is what BLM is doing to cops. The rest of what you say I can agree with.
Lol. This has nothing to do with trump, who I didnt even vote for, this is about forcing politics into my sports. You are right about one thing. I have had enough. Which is why it's so easy to walk away. Ti make it clear....No spitting, no screaming, no flags, no marching, no violence, no stealing, no graffiti, I'll just walk away.
In about 1993 or 1994, MLB first allowed ads behind home plate, making you stare at them all game. That's when I gave up watching baseball. One of the best things I ever did. In the next year or two I gave up football, and I was a former Jet season ticket holder. My only holdout is hockey and the Rangers. Sports coverage is despicable now, with hockey being the only holdout, probably thanks to the lack of black gangster appeal. When they have strikes or lockouts, I don't care. I don't miss it. I don't miss it now. I think it's ridiculous to pick up the seasons again. Giving up sports showed me how unnecessary they are.
When I dumped the NFL a couple years back, I was surprised how easy it was, I had other hobbies inside of two weeks. I came back last season for a few games but it's not looking good this year. The nba is next on the chopping block, I havent watched any bubble games yet.
You don't have the platform they have and I am pretty sure nobody would care what you think since you are not a celebrity. Sports has always been in the political limelight. From the days of Jack Johnson on up.
So that is what caused it, i just heard on ESPN that MLB cancelled the season because a viewer from south of Boston said he is not watching any more games.
Are you wanting to walk away from baseball due to the national anthem being played? If yes. I support that decision. It's yours to make.
