President Trump dismissed the legacy of the late Rep. John Lewis in an interview with “Axios on HBO,” saying only that Lewis made a “big mistake” by not coming to his inauguration.
The big picture: Trump's comments were a glaring contrast with the praise Republicans and Democrats showered upon Lewis this week, and a default to personal grudges during a week of mourning for a civil rights hero.
Driving the news: In the interview with Axios’ Jonathan Swan, Trump said, “I really don't know” how history will remember the Democratic congressman. “I don't know John Lewis. He chose not to come to my inauguration. ... I never met John Lewis, actually, I don’t believe.”

    Wow.

Can you believe that Trump could be so petty that he would refer to Lewis in this way.

I mean, I know it isn't that hard to believe since Trump has made a career of making his political grudges personal.

In any event, I really didn't expect Trump to get this personal when discussing a recently deceased Civil Rights Icon.

What are your opinions on how Trump handled this?

Also, the Entire Interview is now online and blowing up on social media.

    So what, who cares?

That was then this is now.

John Lewis died last week, not this week.

As for Trump? He's a force that can not be stopped.

Who Cares? Lewis refused to come to Trump's inauguration. Why on earth should Trump go to his funeral. John Lewis was praise worthy back in the 1960's and '70's, in the last 10 years he became a partisan hack.

    Yes, I can believe it.

The real question is whether anyone is surprised. I’m not.

I am not surprised in the least.

In fact, Trump got completely OWNED in that entire interview and I can't believe that his "handlers" even allowed it.

Don't care. It's his choice and I'll not begrudge him it. There are far more important things to worry about.

    WRONG.

    He'll be stopped.

The only thing, neither Trump nor his voters will BELIEVE it until after Biden is sworn in on .1/20/21.

    Here's a preview:

    Trump WILL Lose.

    He will dispute the Election

The states will certify the results and the Electoral College will meet and Vote Biden in as President.

Trump will still be disputing the Election when Biden is sworn in.

Inauguration Day is going to be very tough for Trump (and his voters).

John Lewis never recognized Trump's presidency as legitamite. If Trump went he would have been knocked down in the press.

I don't think anyone was surprised he stayed away.

AJ you are both incorrect AND wrong.

There are no brakes on the Trump train.

    Trump will win.

    Dems will dispute the Election.

But NO ONE will care because Trump won.

The states and even SCOTUS will only confirm this.

    And at the inauguration ceremony?

Trump will say who cares? Its old news from 3 months ago.

By then, Biden won't even remember the election results.

Biden will ask Trump for a piece of gum, and Trump will tell him to get a job and buy his own.

So it won't be very difficult for Biden (or his supporters).

Trump will tell them to get a job and work hard, with his right hand ON THE BIBLE.

    And everyone will agree.

    Completely WRONG.

That said, have you made any contingency plans for the Certain Trump Loss?

All of the Pro-Trump Talking Points will cease to be relevant once Trump is a private citizen.

That said, Trump will undoubtedly try to "pull a Grover Cleveland" and Run in 2024.

Thus, I suppose that there will be 4 more years of this stuff.

The thing is, given a Multi-Candidate Field, Trump will be the heavy fave for the '24 Nomination.

Oh, and back on topic, that Entire Interview is a disgrace and Trump got totally OWNED.

The Lewis stuff was egregious, but the entire interview was a glowing example of Trump's Rampant IMBECILITY.

    Im totally right.

Then Trump will invite the entire electoral college to the white house for lobster.

And they will look at the (one) news camera as they crack the lobsters claws in unison.

Then Trump will say who cares, its ancient history.

    And the EC will laugh.

And then EVERYONE will eat lobster and look at you through the camera (so you can see it).

    Quoted for Posterity.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Nothing can be proven, either way, until January 20th.

Who knows? Maybe Bat Boy shocks the world with his 3rd Party Bid?

In any event, I fully expect Trump to Pull a Grover and Run in '24.

This isn’t really news, unless we need to report that fish swim and cows fart.
But it is helpful to remind voters what a deplorable character he is.

    I hear you completely.

I definitely recommend the Entire Interview which is posted above in Post #16.

In terms of observing the actions of Complete IMBECILE, the part with the charts is priceless.

Trump is just getting totally owned, and the clueless idiot doesn't even know what the charts mean.

You are suggesting that no one cares about John Lewis because he died one week ago.

Trump said, "You can't do that" when asked to explain why so many more Americans are dying from covid-19 as a percentage of the total population.

You have completely missed the point.

But Lewis WAS just another useless craven self-serving political sociopath; pretending otherwise doesn't change this.

The man who subjected himself to repeated beatings during his walk across the Pettis bridge is not an useless craven self-serving political sociopath.

The man who refused to praise that man because he didn't come to his inauguration is an useless craven self-serving political sociopath.

In fairness, I think the media would make a big deal about it regardless if he attended or not. Beyond that, it seems petty for him to cite Lewis' inauguration snub. It seems more likely that his handlers told him that it would look bad to his supporters given what is happening with the protests and riots.
