The problem is these 4 guys have an iron grip on the organization. Remember a year ago when Ollie North was put in charge and tried to push for a financial review? He was pushed out in a month and Lapierre took control back.

If there is a way to separate these guys it should be done, but I think the membership have simply given too much control to these guys and may have destroyed the NRA in the process.

Some other group will come up and become the new NRA.

"It lists dozens of examples of alleged financial malfeasance, including the use of NRA funds for vacations, private jets and expensive meals. In a statement, James' office said that the charitable organization's executives "instituted a culture of self-dealing, mismanagement and negligent oversight" that contributed to "the waste and loss of millions in assets.""

Sounds like the UN and in particular the WHO.

Have not seen exactly what the DA is talking about and what are the subjective measures she applies. Guess that will come out in the trial. Was any of this some secret, as head of the NRA I'm sure he traveled first class all the way and he was very effective and paid a very nice salary. I don't know if the members were kept hidden from that. They have wanted him as their leadership for decades and were willing to pay him accordingly. If they did abuse their position off with their heads and the membership should elect new leadership. THAT is what the DA should seek as she has oversight of these charitable groups. Call for an election by the members of the NRA and then take her case against the individuals for THEIR behavior to court.

And that's called........................................the marketplace of ideas and the government should not be injecting itself into it unless it is a criminal matter. We need to see a lot more of what exactly are the DA's allegation. She oversees these groups in the state of New York. Why doesn't she call for a vote of confidence at the least by the members or call a new leadership vote. She can continue her prosecutions I await to see more details.

And I bet more such charitable organizations that are incorporated in NY will reconsider.

    No, they won't.
Maybe I know a lot more than I should but Lapierre is guilty of misusing funds. The problem is the fact he has a large number of board members that for one reason or another still support him. Any efforts to oust him have all failed. I think tearing down and rebuilding is the way to go.
Few know that the NRA is not supported by gun manufacturers. They put their money in the NSSF.
Lapierre is a self important prick and I hope he is prosecuted.

How does he hold office by appointment by the board or election by the members, I don't know or the history other than he's been there for a LONG time, I'm not surprised if he is paid well and has first class travel as part of his contract. So have to wait and see what this DA has that shows an unauthorized use of funds. I have worked for companies, not non-profits I admit, that rewarded good performance with nice trips for me and my family. Was it an abuse? We'll see.

No any knowing that illegal acts by the executives can get them disbanded as an organization by a state DA, one who may have political or other personal motivations.

Thousands in cosmetics for his wife? Three thousand dollar suits for himself? Private jets for vacations? Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions funneled into a "special" marketing company?
Yes, the man is a narcissist and a crook.

As I said I haven't seen the list of violations and a subjective view of them, has it been posted somewhere, and will await the defense response to it.

I am shocked by the ongoing liberal attack on the 2nd Amendment. Trying to shut down a grass roots lobbying organization is a new low even for Dems.

Thanks for the reminder. I usually send the NRA money every time they are bashed on PF. So I guess I will send a contribution tomorrow.

If the NRA was not effective in maintaining my rights they would not be under constant attack from liberals.

Without the NRA my gun rights would have been gone years ago. Why do you suppose liberals hate the NRA?

If this is true there should be severe consequences but the organization should not be dissolved. That would set a dangerous precedent.
