Deputies fatally shoot Black man in L.A. who dropped gun from bundle

This should be a Trump campaign ad or a police messaging because A: It makes sense, B: It saves lives.

 

~ What does it matter that he was "Black man" ... ? What if he were "Itallian" man, "Jewish" man , "Brown " man , "Rainbow" man ... ?

 

Dropping a gun- doesnt warrant being shot.
Moving violation on a bicycle- doesnt warrant being shot.
Punching a police officer- tough call, would depend on a lot of other factors, should go to a jury.
Pulling a gun on police- almost always warrants getting shot, but should also go to a jury.
Firing (first) at police- always warrants getting shot.

Now to wait and find out what actually happened...

They are taught when they are allowed to use lethal force.

Minneapolis even had an active ordinance that police can kneel on a man's neck until he is unconscious in order to make an arrest. Most cities had banned that practice and retrained their officers. Officers in my city haven't been allowed to restrain a man by the neck in years.

Policing and police regulations is a local responsibility first and foremost. These shootings and deaths should be local issues.

So if somebody is running away from you...you have a right to kill them even if they have never been charged with a crime?
When was the last time you heard of a cop just shooting someone in the leg to stop them???
Maybe they should teach cops how to aim before they put guns in their hands...
then they would not have to shoot someone in the back 7 times at close range.

Its easy to criticize them from the safety of your chair, but if you have ever been shooting, you would know that aiming for arms and legs is more dangerous. When you pull that trigger, you are responsible for where the bullet terminates and in public, you would be more likely to miss and endanger innocent people.

You must also consider why he resisted in the first place. L.A. gun laws make people like him pay a heavy price for having a gun.

You came up with a real jewel when it comes to dealing with criminals. Hand to hand combat is an advantage for rapists, murderers and kidnappers. They will not restrict themselves to a fair fight.

 

If we get to a society where the cops are disarmed but criminals are armed, we'll see a lot more tragedy. I'm not hoping or wishing for it, it's human history when criminals can prey on the weak.

After the shooting: The two cops keep their guns trained at his lifeless body from 20 feet away. Then, when at least 10 cops join them, they walk with 2 of the new cops towards him slowly with guns drawn. They confirm he is dead. Some cops walk away while the other 2 stand there looking dumbfounded for a minute. Then they cuff him.

No one tried first aid. Most of them didn't even look at him. Cops need to learn how to at least make a killing look less strange.

And how the heck does any cop in LA not have a body camera?!?

 

Neither do I personally, because I will never punch a cop, pull a gun on a cop, or run from a cop. My odds of being killed by a cop are virtually zero. For someone who disobeys a cop, their odds of being shot are very slightly higher than zero.

Comparing the Civil Rights Movement to today's misguided "protests" is like comparing apples to dog sh*t.

My problem is the state executing citizenry not my likelihood of becoming a victim. But thats just me. I wonder what % of those ~1,000 dead Americans were a true threat to the "authorities".

You're using too many assumptions to make your point. Do you know for a fact this black man was shot while others were in the line of fire?
Jake Blake was shot right in front of his own kids in the car..the officer could care less.
Another Black man shot to death in his own car by police with his girl friend sitting right next to him.
Again the officer could care less if anyone else gets hurt. There is no good reason for this kind of policing.
