    Trump will NOT win the popular vote.. Like in ‘16 he’ll need a narrow electoral college win.

    If we’re talking the scenario of Trump declaring himself the winner before the vote has been tabulated on the evening of November 3rd. Count on it.

    Yes there will be an attempt to stop states from counting ballots if day one tabulations are close. The Florida Bush/Gore scenario on steroids across the country. Signatures rather than chads will be challenged.

    Personally I’ve got the patience to wait for the vote to be counted though am not naive. Any quest to retain power can get over the top crazy.

    This is why we have an electoral college. The fake ballots have to come from the right places. Winning every vote in California and New York does not a President make. Cheating and getting away with it will be difficult.

    The electoral system, as intended, should have been eliminated after 1861 as the only reason we have the electoral college was to give slave states more voting weight as the majority of their populations were slaves who could not vote. Once the Civil War began, the electoral college system became moot.

    Biden could win by about 6 million votes and still lose because of the EC.

    The EC is an existential threat to representative government, which Trump is currently demonstrating.

    Happy to be corrected if wrong but didn't Clinton win the 'popular' vote by about 2% over Trump at the last election?

    As I understand it it's not the popular vote that matters but rather how those votes are distributed by the Electoral College. So how is the question posted in this thread different? If Binden wins this time round based on distributions from the Electoral college what has changed? Answer: nothing.

    Don't see how you can cry 'foul' just because this time your preferred candidate loses when the exact same mechanism saw him win last time.

    They will if it happens though. Indeed, I confidently expect some will take their arsenals in tow and head for the hills. Hopefully, the realization that people weighing in excess of 300lbs make generally poor guerillas will keep too many people from coming to any real harm

    I have no idea how what will be the circumstances the night the polls close. How about this we all go to our polling place show an ID to get a ballot and cast it right there.

    There is no national popular vote how often does that have to be stated. You do NOT vote in a national election. No one in the history of the country has ever voted in a national election. There are 51 separate and unique elections held in order to choose all the Electors who will elect the President. Tallying up those 51 separate and unique elections and declaring that an accurate reflection of a national popular vote is political and statistical folly. Interesting trivia but of no substance.

    Trump just needs to win enough electoral votes, the total number of votes cast across the country aren't the primary factor. It's a huge assumption to believe Biden is going to win on any level. Sounds more like liberals are gearing to up to whine about another loss...
