They all do it. The dems are no better, really. This is why having a split Congress is good for America. Even better if the opposition party is in the Senate, instead of the House. That's the best possible outcome for everyone.

So the GOP is following the law, but to you that makes them unethical. And that's how far around the bend the Left has gone friends and neighbors!

Much of what goes on in DC is based on tradition. Or, it used to be, so perhaps we need a lot of new laws to keep your criminals in check.

Really unexpected and surprising news - I didn't expect Ginsburg to die before Trump left office. Condolences to her family.

    What will happen? My guess:

President Trump will nominate Amy Coney Barrett to replace Ginsburg and Vice President Pence's vote will make her the next Supreme Court justice.

Footnote: It will be interesting to see how the Demokrats try to destroy this woman.

Amy Barret is well vetted. And Trump's re election is not gauranteed. You are right, it is a lifetime appointment, so he needs to act now and lets not even kid ourselves that ANY politicians cares about the appearance of hypocrisy.

Yup. Jon Stewart was really good at creating clips of politicians of both stripes, changing their tune when it becomes politically expedient.

That's really the answer. Hypocrisy is now so out in the open that's it's virtually irrelevant. The democrats have proven that no lie is too big to swear by, so why should the Republicans play fair?

It wasn't Ginsburg's only bad decision but it certainly was her last.

What's ironic is that after badmouthing Trump he may wind up replacing her with a conservative on the SCOTUS.

Here's an amusing quote Ginsburg made in an interview with CNN back in July 2016:

    LOL

The process takes a s long as the SML wants it to, and can easily be done before the end of the year.

He's 72. And my concern isn't that he isn't a healthy 72, but that he won't be a healthy 82. I don't know how many good years he may have, but I doubt it's in the double digits.

True but Breyer was never going to retire during a Republican Presidency. Like RBG, he'll have to be taken out feet first.

    You mean they can try.
And if they succeed, the GOP can do the same thing.

You're just upset the GOP is doing exactly what the Democrats would do in the same situation.

She should have retired a few years ago, and enjoyed her family and remaining years in peace. But she hung on until she actually died because she was a political animal. The empty seat will be filled, hopefully by a Trump nomination. Boo hoo for the left...live by it, die by it.

No worries about the "rant", good to hear those thoughts, which I fully agree with.

I have an anecdote from today: I did a long bike ride this morning. While huffing and puffing up a long, steep hill, I went by a house with a Trump flag in the yard, The owner was out doing yard work. I waved and said "good morning", and commented about the beautiful morning for doing yard work. He commented on being impressed by my effort biking up that hill. He seemed like a perfectly nice fellow.

It is a shame that politics has divided us to the point where we see mortal enemies in people that we may otherwise get perfectly fine along with. Something has to stop this trend. I don't know what that something is. I just know that, for myself, I don't watch Rachel Maddow, or any other TV opinion shows. I also don't go to sites like Daily Kos etc. I don't need to be fed one-sided agenda-driven opinion.

As to RBG, I think no matter which side of the fence you are on, you have to admit that she was a good human being, who stood up for what she thought was right. Her friendship with fellow SC judges form the conservative side is well documented, showing her ability to put personal relationships before politics. She will be missed.

After the Democrat Party’s shameless attacks on President Trump since long before he ever entered the Oval Office up through today, I hope that the GOP forgo honor, embrace hypocrisy, and install a replacement for the old dead dingbat, pronto. After these staged riots by the left this year, I’ve had my fill of leftists and their hurt feelings.

Trump was elected for a four year term and is responsible and has a right to nominate judges until his term expires. We don't elect people to be our President 3 1/2 years we elect them to serve their four year term ending on Jan,20th. What the Senate does with the nomination is up to them. They are the ones who say thumbs up or
thumbs down . I don't understand why the opposition would expect the opposing party to give them the power to make a selection they would disagree with. We elected Trump to name any persons to the Supreme Court if an opening came up. We also expect him to fill all lesser judgeships that are vacant. Seeing he got elected it must be what the people wanted.

And that, of course, is the ironic part of this. She desperately held onto the seat with one foot in the grave only because she wanted a liberal in her place, and yet democrats point at Republicans for 'politicizing' the Supreme Court.

I have on occasion made incorrect assumptions as to the level of education on specific subjects of those I engage on PF. However, I never just “gas”.

Now, even if one denies all, half, or only “the other side’s” part of the above never happened, the fact it’s deemed important enough by media to report on is evidence of my claim of American’s being encouraged to hate one another.
