One of my concerns about this is people are basically overlooking that kids can get the virus and be super spreaders. Kids are constantly getting illnesses from other kids so it's easy to shrug it off, but it's not that simple with COVID going around. It may not be deadly to kids, but it can be to the people they infect.

    What do you think?

So? I mean what does the 'legislate freedom right into the garbage can' politians of the Left intend to do about reality itself? Life comes with an automatic death sentence; so cease having a life because you will eventually die no matter what?

I think if you don’t want family unit spread you better follow the same d*** protocols at home as you believe stops spread In public. It’s such simple logic, really. Who would have ever believed there would be consequences for letting others do the thinking for us?

can't read the article as it's behind a paywall of some sort

for those who read a leftist paper, what were the number of covid deaths due to the family outing?

I'm not sure why it came up like that for you. I don't see that and can read the whole article.

    To answer your question...

My point in posting this is not to suggest that people should cower in the corner terrified of the virus, but to point out that it's silly to assume that some cannot get the virus or pass it to others solely because of their age.

Thankfully, nobody in this particular family died. Hopefully, all the people that they may have infected had the minor symptoms and have recovered as well.

thank you and that's the point; nobody died which is the norm. We've no clue how many folks have actually had Covid and yes, over 200k in this country have been reported as covid related deaths, that is not good however, the virus is not even close to being a death sentence

No, it doesn't appear to be an automatic death sentence. Nevertheless, my concerns are for the people that have some health issues or some comorbidities. Both my parents are in the highest risk group. I know many people struggling with serious health problems who are vulnerable. In some patients, COVID has been shown to cause long-term damage to the heart, lungs and/or brain so one could have it, recover and face all kinds of serious health problems later on. The other issue I don't see much talked about is the mental health concerns of people in isolation. Some are struggling more with isolation than have fear about the virus.

No, it's not possible to complete isolate from the world and I'm not suggesting that anybody should. I think experts are learning more about the virus every day and we need to pay attention. It's not a death sentence but it shouldn't be taken lightly either.

    WTF is a "super spreader"?

No need to fear monger... COVID is typically a mild flu (for most people). You will likely get it at some point and your immune system will do its thing (if it hasn't already done so without you knowing it)...

If you wish to wear a mask 24/7/365, that's your prerogative... As for me, I am MUCH smarter than that, as I wish to keep my freedoms from the tyrannical communist ****s known as Democrats.

    I didn't coin the term. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superspreader

I'm not trying to fear monger either. I've already stated MORE THAN ONCE that I think it's silly that we are told that children are not carriers. This case proves that to be untrue so why not educate that we should be practicing the same rules (masks, hand washing and social distancing) for EVERYONE? It seems like it's common sense.

you touch upon an excellent point about those in isolation. Relegating everyone else to lockdowns or masking up is not the solution

testing also now is a waste as you can show negative at 0900 but go back at 1300 and show positive. We can't test everyone, every hour.

it comes down to those in fear, need to figure out how to live, and not expect others to abide by their fears. Those with comorbidities, need to have friends/family thoroughly wash their hands and not sit there and breathe on them for 15 minutes, but can still visit

Exactly, NOBODY died, because this virus typically presents itself as a mild flu.......... It is not a big deal.

Plus, now this family has been exposed to it and has now gained immunity to the virus... GOODIE!!!!!!!! :)

    Aren't immune systems wonderful??

I agree that the current plan needs tweaking. I have seen people wearing full body costumes (with head dress), Halloween masks (long before Fall), masks below the nose, etc. Admittedly, people are salty because our governor has mandated masks inside all businesses and business owners have to comply or face hefty fines. My point being if you aren't going to wear it correctly, why bother?

Yes. This has come more to light since the POTUS' diagnosis. When did he get infected and when did he know for sure?

You get a "like" because the last sentence really did make me laugh out loud. ;-0

Thanks for the discussion on this!

It should be treated as any other flu-like virus is treated... Just wash your hands once in a while, and if you get sick, STAY HOME and rest (treating yourself with Vitamin D and Zinc)... This whole fear porn hysteria is a complete globalist scam to get the populace to give up their freedoms as they know them... WAKE UP before it is too late...

That definition is complete and utter bullshit. There is nothing "unusual" (whatever that is defined as, as the word is a subjective word) about the way that covid is spreading... It is a scary sounding buzzword... It is meaningless garbage as far as I am concerned...

True. Children are just as much carriers as anyone else (IF they are infected with the virus)...

No, we should be promoting one's FREEDOM to make one's OWN decisions regarding the matter... Suggestions are fine, but mandates are not fine...

I understand your point. I really do.

However, the older I've become, the more I have to realize that some people are just stupid. I know that's harsh but it's true. Rules are calibrated for the stupid and the rest of us have to deal with it. I was in a hotel several months back and there was a warning on a sprinkler ON THE CEILING. It read "This is not a hanger.". I cannot locate the photo but it was there, I swear. How in the heck is that kind of warning even necessary? So, yes, for the relatively intelligent and critical thinkers, some things are common sense but I remind myself the rules are there for those that can't figure out you shouldn't put a cup of scalding hot coffee between your legs when driving. ;-0

    I understand your point.

    That was my whole point.

I agree. I happen to live in a state with waning hope in our Governor and people are tired of his mandates. People, in general, seem to just be tired of it all.
