    Remember my posts about humor and positive attitude and how they protect us from infection, help us fight infection, and prep our immune system to have a robust response to vaccination? It’s real. Probably a factor in Trumps recovery so far.

    If I can make you laugh or think positively it may well save your life. :)

    I do not think that was the message of that poster but, I strongly encourage you to mask up, stay home, and keep wiping surfaces for 28 days as we've now seen that the virus remains active for 28 days on some surfaces in certain environments.

    In fact, a hazmat suit is probably best for everyone with full decontamination chambers when you strip off the hazmat suit.

    The New York Times reports that the White House is all in on the idea of what President Trump calls "herd mentality."

    The White House has embraced a declaration by a group of scientists arguing that authorities

    Should allow the coronavirus to spread among young healthy people while protecting the elderly and the vulnerable — an approach that would rely on arriving at “herd immunity” through infections rather than a vaccine....

    On a call convened Monday by the White House, two senior administration officials, both speaking anonymously because they were not authorized to give their names, cited an October 4 petition titled The Great Barrington Declaration, which argues against lockdowns and calls for a reopening of businesses and schools.

    The declaration’s architects include Sunetra Gupta and Gabriela Gomes, two scientists who have proposed that societies may achieve herd immunity when 10 to 20 percent of their populations have been infected with the virus, a position most epidemiologists disagree with.

    Vaccine manufacturers speculate and advertise that 70% is required. There is a method to their madness, and of course a financial incentive too.

    Actually, virtually the entire medical community puts herd immunity at 60-70%

    We are currently at less than 10%

    It is a theoretical value only. It has never been proved in a laboratory.

    Months ago, by testing for antibodies, Queens NY showed around 60%

    Your bias is consistent

    Queens NY...Oh.So according to that, Queens should have no new cases. Is that accurate?

    And nationally it's less than 10%

    Actually it's pretty simple.

    Herd immunity without a vaccine is a stupid and dangerous idea

    Unfortunately that's Trump's "plan" if you can call it that

    Yes, indeed, Herd Immunity is a theoretical value that has never been proved in a laboratory.

    Especially since there has been little to establish what immunity is conferred after recovery from COVID-19.

    The Herd Immunity partisans talk as if it is 100% effective protection, but no one knows yet! There are now documented cases now the recovered cases can get reinfected, and how many protected for how long is little known.

    And Herd Immunity hopefuls seem to believe the "natural immunity" is better than any vaccine like some of routine diseases like measles and mumps, but those are a bunch of bunk, and nothing is indicating COVID might be better, although the current vaccine trials may see what it takes to see what immunity might be possible.

    But in the meantime, these hopes for "Herd Immunity" are guesses, and to claim that current vaccines are less effective than getting actual COVID invections is dangerous and problematic.

    As viral epidemics have waxed and waned during the history of mankind, the covid epidemic waxed and wanes. That is an historic fact.

    There are several factors in that equation, and one of the factors is what's called herd immunity. Sufficient numbers of the herd become infected, the weak perish and the strong survive. Individuals who survive acquire immunity to the virus. As time goes on, the herd itself acquires immunity to the virus. It is a biological process over which man has no control. Through history, enter vaccines. They can be another factor in the equation.
