The Marine Corps Times is reporting that despite Trumps claims of rebuilding our military, that they the Marines are short 6 Infantry Battalions and that the U.S.Navy is short 100 ships.
That certainly doesn't sound like the rebuilding is anywhere near complete, despite the billions of dollars that he added to the defense department budget. Where did all that money go????

What does it matter? The budget cuts are coming back under Biden which is why Officers in the military are deciding to resign commissions after their 8 and work contract work...until that's reduced. Biden wants to, as he stated, bring back the Obama era foreign policies. Sad time for our men and women like myself in uniform. Here come the armory shutdowns and unit closures again.

So because of what you believe might happen in the future you give a pass to Trump for not doing what he claimed to do? Um...ok...

Unit funds are done by fiscal year plus agreed limit use. The Commander in chief approves of it. The Command is responsible for the rest. Trump did approve it.

So what you're saying is, four top military officers didn't make you happy enough.

All is well. If you think the military is so bad now, just wait.

Note while Trump has strengthened the military significantly the real problem the military has is recruitment. It can barely staff its current units. And while much of the navy' s next generation warships are both more automated and more efficient they are also far more costly. Add to that the fact that the procurement and design office frequently seems more interested in testing the limits of early 21st century technology than producing fighting ships for specific missions. Hence the newest generation of destroyer a class of only three ships is now equipped with a cannon for which the specialized ammunition has never been produced because in the end congresses deemed it to expensive at nearly a billion a round several times the cost if a tomahawk missile.

The military is actually getting a lot of intelligent recruits. Asvab scores have skyrocketed as of 2017 for enlisted recruits younger than 21. The problem is, every recruit that scores well, wants intel or aviation.

Very mature response. The fact is, Trump approved everything he said. His job isn't to allocate the funds, that goes to the command, and has since WW2. Call your local recruiter and they can explain the chain of command to you and their responsibilities from an O1 all the way to the President. Seriously, they will do it.

For the record, I don't think Biden's budget cuts will be that bad. It's more the fact that he wants to be MORE involved with foreign conflicts than Trump does. So if Biden adhere's to his foreign policy promises that he likened to Obama, that means more money should be allocated and he better have a decent understanding of War.

You missed the point which is he shouldn’t brag about how he completely rebuilt a depleted US military when that’s clearly not the case.

Haha what unit are you in? Mine shut down in 2011 all together. Now, we have two units that emerged in one year under Trump in 2017 and a brand new cyber unit for the Reserves.

Trump has rebuilt our military. You just don't do enough research. The problem we have now is recruit placement. It's a problem almost every 10 or so years. Every now and then you get people that don't want to get shot, but want a government paycheck and housing allowance...

We don't need a crystal ball. Biden already told us what he's going to do.

Unless he's a liar? Who knows. He was a draft dodger. Hard to tell what he'll do

The MCT article is based in the Heritage Foundation's independent report that estimates that we need a much larger military than we currently have or have plans for. For instance around 45 of that 100 ship "shortage" are ships not even part of the official government plans for the size of the Navy.

Yea I asked the OP for the link and they refused to post it. So I googled it and saw the same thing. It's taken WAY out of context. The alt left radicals buy it lol

That's odd. Other threads claim Joe is a war monger. You never know which way is up in Trumpworld.

When I saw 6 battalions I first assumed it was another one of these 2-War force readiness reports and the Navy # was probably due to the fiasco the adaptable LCS program is shaping up to be, but it turned out it is more fantasy football than a legit assessment.

And what is your excuse for being short ships?
