    My recollection is that 6% refers to the percentage of fatalities whose only illness is a Covid-19 infection. The remaining 94% have serious preconditions. It’s coincidental that the survivability over 70 is also 6%.

    I’m the only one in this thread who’s been right all along, and I’ll say it again;

    Let’s wait until CDC publishes its 2020 Mortality Rates, and Causes of death, thus, by July next year, and then, argue.

    Why? You want to wait for government guesswork? Autopsies are required to determine cause of death.

    I’m waiting for 2020’s Mortality Rate

    Last four years;

    Mortality Rate per 10,000 pop....growth rate;

    2019; 8.782.....1.120%
    2018; 8.685.....1.220%
    2017; 8.580.....1.240%
    2016; 8.475.....1.270%

    Source; microtrends.net

    AND THEN, I’ll figure out 2020’s excess deaths.

    In other words, I’m in no rush to prove nor disprove.

    AND, I already know the response from Trump’s loyalists when the CDC will publish their 2020 Mortality rate, and Causes of death.....,”They’re lying!”

    Also, the 2020 Mortality rate will likely be lower than anticipated due to the following reasons;

    a. Lower heart disease related deaths
    b. Lower Cancer related deaths
    c. Lower accident related deaths (due to approx. 4 months of “Nobody move, nobody get hurt”, and
    d. Below average Oct/Nov/Dec Flu related deaths.

    And according to my quick calculator, a/b/c/d equates to approx. minus 150,000 deaths.

    Thus, let’s assume 320,000 Covid19 related deaths by year end; 320,000 - 150,000 equates to an excess of 170,000 deaths.

    Yep, and next year the number will be even higher.
    We are going from ~8.5 per 1000 to about 10 per 1000

    a and b will be dishonestly attributed to COVID-19. And there have been accident fatalities attributed to Covid.

    You're so concerned about humanity that while breathlessly awaiting the mortality rate for 2020, you totally overlooked the Obamacare death toll:
    2015; 8.369.....1.270%
    2014; 8.264.....1.290%
    2013; 8.159.....0.090%
    2012; 8.152.....0.090%
    There, if you append these data to your microtrends, you can cite the source as macrotrends.net. Now you don't have to wait. You can begin working on the excess deaths attributable to Obamacare IMMEDIATELY.

    I think the mitigation techniques are effective for less contagious viruses. This virus is very easy to contract. It is isn't really all that dangerous but is certainly is contagious.

    For the remaining 94%, COVID was still the underlying cause. Some people had preconditions, but the 94% also includes people who died from conditions that COVID causes, such as heart issues and pneumonia.

    Guess you never heard of viral cardiomyopathy befor 2020.
    Sad.

    Lots of viruses lead to secondary pneumonias. Lots of people die from them every year

    I congratulate you on the imagination required to somehow arrive at that bonkers conclusion. Please read my post. It will be helpful when "responding."

    Not in anywhere close to the numbers we are seeing now.

    Without the media the majority of people would not know there was a claimed pandemic.

    Yes. Without information, more than just the fringe conspiracy theorists would be ignorant of its existence.

    In 1918 no one needed media to tell them since 1 in 10 died. In 2020 the survival rate is over 99.9%.

    There is also a process known as viral attenuation (Muller’s ratchet) taking place in which the COVID-19 virus is weakening due to mutation.

    No it wasn’t. The very serious existing preconditions and their age were the major contributors. COVID-19 was the straw just as seasonal flu would be.

    Seasonal flu has more serious and prevalent complications.

    Just as many people had very serious existing preconditions last year and the four years previous but that doesn't explain the 300,000 excess deaths from all causes this year

    There were not any excess deaths. It appears that most of the fatalities would have occurred due to the serious preconditions.

    Excess deaths includes those who died from serious preconditions! Over 300,000 excess deaths from ALL causes compared to the average number of yearly deaths from all causes
