Not what the Democrats want - they want to use salaries and resource money needed to fund the police for nice social programs in the poor neighborhoods.

What do you think that is going to do? These people burn down businesses in their own area. Refuse to go to school and get any kind of education, and then you want to pretend it's because of poverty? The people in these poor communities simply reap what they sow and I for one do not care if they want less police. Just don't think putting that money into the victim's pocket or the corrupt politicians who fail to improve their communities is going to make any difference. It's a culture problem, not a financial one. This soon to be congressman is not bringing any new solutions to the table. Just throw money at a problem that he is not solving.

They are the front line of defense against crime. Remove or decrease the police presence, **** hits the fan and bad things happen. You not gonna argue with that, will yea?

Yes, we should keep experimenting. But at the same time, we should be pushing for personal responsibilities. If everyone bore the responsibility for themselves, we would have a lot fewer problems. The difficulty is that there are so many facets of what is wrong with society, so no one solution is going to "work".
But in America, we don't stop trying. Things actually are improving, imo. It just isn't fast enough for some, but real change takes time.
Discussions like this thread help, even if it's a little bit.

Yes, I think it probably could lead to more petty crime. Definitely more traffic violations.

 

Yeah, in the Chicago area you have to get a house in a 'burb located near the border with Wisconsin before you're mostly free from the constant threat of being killed on the streets....

 

Actually, it got better for a while when we threw money at cops, adopted broken window policing and stop and frisk. Look it up.

You're pretending the plan, which goes well beyond just reduction of police, would be detrimental to the communities in question. In so implying, your second odious implication is that Bowman is lacking in intelligence and that you know much better than he. Yet you do this by presenting a partial and therefore false picture of the demand.

Ok, so let's defend the police in black and brown communities. And just like how the left wants to stop the spread of the virus by quarantining people, the crime in 'particularly our poor black and brown communities' will be reduced if they're quarantined to their own 'particular communities' and not allowed to leave.

I would also suggest to Jamaal that in order to reduce illnesses he also reduce the number of doctors and hospitals in brown and black communities. Same logic, right?

And less ships will flounder at sea and there will be a reduction in drownings if we cut back the number of boats used by the Coast Guard. Liberal logic in fascinating.
