Why is there so much hate, and why is the country (US) so divided?

In my view it results from the establishment of the world wide web. it has provided a forum for people to argue with each other anonymously.

    Thank you woke Democrats...
Note social media hasn't exactly helped in no small part because it has chosen to take sides.

Yes, I'd just like to thank democrats for a year of anarchy and destruction without precedent in this country and that has probably forever set the protocol for future generations in striving for anything, and I'd like to thank BLM and antifa for one hell of a year that will likely have historians scratching their heads for decades, wondering "what the hell was that?"

Don't worry about it. They don't know either.

I can't tell if you really believe this or if you are trolling.

If you really believe it, then you have no actual idea of what you are debating against and you should educate yourself on the perspectives of others rather than minimizing their views through fallacies.

Are you on this site to actually discuss and try to understand others perspectives, or just scream your opinions are right and everybody else is wrong?

I think the biggest delta is that of a culture war.

The left has adopted a cultural agenda that prioritizes the collective over the individual.

The right prioritizes individuals over the collective.

Almost ever topic of discussion and debate boils down to this.

The quick short answer is, white males have been seeing their dominance over the country slip away for the last 30 yrs. And some of us are fighting against it. I am not one of them.
As white male dominance wasn't always the best solution for the entirety of Americans.

We had a civil war. It doesn't get much more toxic than that.

TBH - I think it started back in the 1980s/90s with talk radio. Then Cable news networks, and yes, now social media has everyone being a news reporter with their own opinion.

You notice how the 1950s and 60s were brought up as the great time.
Yes, the post was correct about USA dominance because of the end of WW2. But it was mostly white male dominance that prospered.
For non whites and non males, it wasn't all roses and cream.

They need to think about some enemy. And then equate it to their own lives, so they chalk up those not thinking like them as being Americas former and current enemies. It makes it easier to hate fellow Americans.
Why we need to hate fellow Americans is beyond me.

We all want America to grow and prosper. And be a safe and healthy place to raise a family.

    Socialism/Communism.
Those are just buzz words some need to use to justify why they hate fellow Americans.
Very very very few are pushing for Socialism/Communism.
Most in the middle are Socialism/Capitalism. As the country is now and has been.

    I've actually been doing a lot of thinking about this too. It may be new for the citizenry to be at each other's throats over politics but it's not new to world politics or even U.S. politics;

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legislative_violence#United_States_of_America

The list goes on up to 2017

I'm not so sure the actual politicians or the people are 'toxic' as much as they are passionate. However all of the propaganda machines are toxic.

This answers the OP's question perfectly. The left is running around calling everyone who disagrees with them a racist, white supremacist, fascist. They call everyone who does not follow their ever evolving extreme PC protocols a racist, white supremacist, fascist. They redefine definitions of racism, white supremacy and fascism to be able to call everyone who is not them a racist, a supremacist, a fascist.

On top of that the left which has absolutely no positive agenda for the country is deliberately fanning the flames of hatred and racial division where none existed before. Suddenly after 8 years of Obama and 8 years of Clinton we have systemic racism and it's Trump's and Republicans' fault.

Before Obama (BO), it was not uncommon for people to switch parties and vote freely for whomever they wanted. Obama democrats turned politics into a toxic cesspool, and it has been getting worse every election since. Democrats are rotten, that's the problem.

You say very well what has been pointed out many times on discussion boards. It doesn't bother me, but the fact is that most people have pretty thin skin. However, the la-dee-dah censorship approach of FB and Twitter will eventually make the medium much less popular, I think, particularly as it becomes more and more obviously political censorship.

This is if course self serving pablum for woke idiots. For one thing, most white people never had any power in the first place, for another the only thing any human should crave is the right of self determination and most black folks had that in a larger degree before the great society than they have had since.

I've heard them called "buzz words" for most of my life by those that like to inch toward the system. You even now find it acceptable to say Socialism/Capitalism. China has it's roots deep in our corporations and none of them I see have any allegiance to America. They go with the money. You better get used to saying Socialism /Communism.

But it seems you are all for throwing the baby out with the bathwater even given the strides that have been made toward racial equality.

Sounds like self loathing to me. If being a conservative is so embarrassing, as it should be, one can always come on over to the liberal side, where all the brainiacs live.
