So old Joe gets a two-fer here, he can crow about "punishing the Russians", AND poke, as promised, his finger in the eye of American gun owners. What say ye all? Breaking News Biden State Department Bans Import of Russian Ammo and Firearms (tacticalshit.com)
There are 2 other threads on this. Russian ammo used to be cheap and a good way for those on a tight budget to learn marksmanship. The party that claims to care about the poor is pricing them out of their second amendment rights.
America First ... except when it comes to Russian Ammunition? WTF? I just don't get the whole MAGA crowd.
Except American ammo manufacturers are already running full capacity and still backlogged by months or more. We're in an ammo shortage (relative to demand) right now.
So you want to support a traditional American enemy because you are inconvenienced if you can't buy US ammo without a wait? Whatever - America First - how MAGA people PRETEND to care ...
If you truly believe this is about 'not supporting a traditional enemy', then you can explain why we're still buying: machinery ($1.2 billion), aircraft ($1.2 billion), vehicles ($725 million), optical and medical instruments ($506 million), and electrical machinery ($349 million) from Russia? If you truly believe this is an 'America First policy', then you can explain why are we're still importing 6x as many firearms from China as we ever were from Russia?
Sorry, Joe, too slow! I ordered 2000 pew pew beans of the bulletskis last month. Democrats are the greatest gun and ammo salesmen since Messrs Smith and Wesson.
I'm not buying anything from Russia that I have I choice to buy - the question is, why would the America First MAGA crowd even be considering buying non-American made ammo? Simple answer - they don't want to be inconvenienced.
The Russian ammo is really stinky and smokey. I was shooting it at the range, and the guy next to me said "Are you shooting off cheap Chinese fireworks over there?"
So you can't explain either. Which suggests to me that you're just being disingenuous and trying to justify your support of arbitrary and biased policy in order to obfuscate from your agreement with the bias. If there were struggling American ammo manufacturers whose products sat on shelves while cheaper Russian ammo was being sold, you'd have an 'America First' point. But that is simply not the case here. Russian (and all other international) ammo manufacturers are supplimenting a supply void that American manufacturers cannot fill, due mostly to the volatility in the market that is a response to gov't rhetoric influencing that demand, and now (again), govt policy creating volatility in supply.
Sorry, I missed the other threads on this .....also I've never fired any of the Russian ammo, it was rare in these parts even in the good times. Look for ammo prices to skyrocket again, yay!
There is a choice. Wait until American ammo is available. He's exactly right. Everybody wants to whine about America first but don't want to buy or wait because it's more convenient to prop up another country's economy than help your own while claiming to be patriotic. That's rich. There is no Zombie Apocalypse. How much ammo does one person need?
So you're not going to wait and buy American ammo and support the company's expansion in the future and American jobs cause your whole "America First" is just empty rhetoric that disappears at your first inconvenience. Whatever. Bullcrap is the MAGA way.
Do you think that buying ammo from overseas companies means that no one will buy American made ammo, costing jobs? Gun owners are buying it all. There isn't any US ammo rotting on the shelves, and US manufacturers realize that this is a demand bubble. They aren't really looking to expand capacity that would be excess capacity in a year or so, and without adequate raw materials which are a big driver for the shortage, any increase in capacity could be idle capacity. Manufacturers aren't going to make risky investments.
I'm seeing a bunch of Putin supporters on this thread. Oh well. 10 years from now, when the MAGA people look at their stock-piles of Russian Ammo they can remember the good old days when their dollars could have gone to American jobs and American companies but they decided that Putin needed their money more.
Do you think that Putin's making money on ammo sales? He's an oil guy. You ignored the point that American companies are selling all of the ammo that they produce. No one's jobs or profits are impacted by buying ammo produced in Russia.
I pick up a can or 2 every gun show. I have a large family so we go through thousands of rounds each trip to the range.
Well Danny I expect you to never travel by plane ever again since Russia provides titanium forgings for all of Boeing's and Airbus's planes. Didn't know that, did ya? So, you a Putin supporter huh?
