Remember the last time you said something like this to me? I responded with this post that you still have not responded to.

When will people like you learn that almost everything you believe is easily shown to be false? Probably never. But thank you for letting me use you as an example of an authoritarian lacking knowledge of the subjects in question. I truly appreciate your consistency in this regard.

Many vaccinated people believed that because that's what they were told by people we were supposed to trust.

Only if they don't interact with any other people in person at all.

You need to think of context though. Older, sicker people were more likely to get vaccinated early. An 80 year old person is like 1000 times more likely to die of covid than a 25 year old. I have seen that the vaccination reduces the odds of death about 120 fold once infected. Significant, but less so than age.

People don't get vaccines to keep others from getting sick, they do it to protect themselves. This vaccine doesn't really even do that. I had both shots and I could still get sick and I could still infect you and yours and you run the same risk even all shot up and masked up. I am really beginning to think there just isn't any foolproof answer for anyone, no protection that can be depended on. Get vaccinated so we'll all be safe only we won't all be safe. Maybe just accept it's among us, do what we did when you couldn't even find masks and there weren't any shots except bourbon and tequila, and wish each other good luck.

I got the vaccine mainly to reduce my probability of hospitalisation or death and to reduce my probability of passing on the virus onto my parents. The vaccine certainly does give that protection

I did not take the vaccine in order to just stop me getting sick.

Do you have evidence that they would use up resources in a way which overwhelms the health system?

Do you also have this problem with smokers and obese people?

    Kill us ALL? Really?

You don't seem to be familiar with a place called San Francisco.

Back in the good old days (the 1950's) when whites ran everything and everyone was an American nationalist, getting vaccines was standard operating procedure. I don't recall great upheavals in the matter. I still have dimpled spots on my arm from shots. I recall sugar cubes too. Being a kid, I remember little of it but that all Parents and adults seemed to be united on the matter. Surely science has come far and gotten better since then. So I don't really understand the pushback in the matter. It's like they have attitudes and chips on their shoulders, daring to prove their heroism and be free from basic American conformity. Are stop signs and rules an assault on dignity? Are building and manufacturing standards which make our homes, vehicles, foods and other products conducive to our betterment and safety, an affront to liberty and the spirit of patriotism? Is the shared mild burden of general welfare and tranquility now too much to bear. Is civility too much to ask, and madness the path to salvation....and come crashing into Jesus's shins like whirling dervishes. Have Americans become big babies?

In the 50's there was very little difference between a Republican and a Democrat and we were all Americans. Burning a flag wouldn't get you arrested but it would get your ass kicked, we had just followed that flag all over Europe and Asia and buried people we loved along the way. Americans knew what it stood for and we pledged allegiance to that memory and what it represented to us and the world.

Mandates are not tyranny. They are part of effective, and sometimes, necessary governance.

If Democracy means to you that you only like to do things when your guy wins, then that's not really democracy.

Sounds reasonable. And effective. It's also what real leadership looks like.

Here's the thing: there should never be a need to coerce anything and had many absolut nutbags on the Right not told people that the vaccines are pfui-Teufel, of the devil and all that crap, then we would not be where we are right now.

But we are in total agreement with each other that draconian measures can had a certain kind of butterfly effect.

Note to self: never again read a @joesnagg posting and drink coffee at the same time.

I will now go change my shirt. BRB.
