When WORLD prices go up ours go up to match regardless of how much we produce. Energy is a world market.
Just dropped in to note that my electricity budget leapt up by $24 a month today, and my monthly usage has remained the same since LAST September.....yeah baby, vote for a damned Democrat or jump off a cliff, the marginal difference being that the cliff is quicker, with Democrats it's death by a thousand cuts!
Hurricane Ida, increased consumption to generate more electricity in the northeast this summer left less being routed into storage for winter, because the evil Illuminati are out to get us. Take your pick. Higher prices will encourage more production which will bring lower prices.
The mistake is building houses which need 'climate control'. We managed just fine without airconditioning and gas/electric heat, back when we lived with regard to prevailing conditions.
They should not be living in homes so dependent upon external infrastructure (and its outrageous price tag).
are you suggesting to move the Democrat voters from cold areas like NY, MA, VT into warmer areas? No thanks, they can stay right where they are
Hey, you could have put solar on your roof, as I did. Then, you would be independent of the power company price hikes. I realize, however, that it is easier to complain about Biden than it is to take your energy dependency in your own hands.
did you receive any taxpayer provided subsidies for the solar, you know.....credits? What are folks to do who live in areas that do not get much sun? What about renters? It's not one-size-fits-all when it comes to inefficient alternative energy. In most cases, inefficient alternative energy is a good choice for niche applications like trickle charging golf cart batteries, RVs, heating pool water. They are awesome for that. I agree with you about complaining about Biden because he is nothing more than a figurehead. It's the Democrat whackadoodles behind the scenes that worry me But, complaining about Biden and even the Democrat whackadoodles is senseless because they are who they've always been. What I will never understand are the Democrat voters who actually elect these folks. Democrat votes have consequences; never good for the common folk
Seriously? You think everyone who heats with wood is collecting wood off the ground? I don't have a problem with heating with wood, I like the way it makes the house smell. And people aren't clear-cutting forests to heat their homes. But what you just said is stupid.
Natural Gas is part of the "green new deal". Anyway, the claim in OP was already proven BS, since it was shown that NG production has increased this year, not decreased as OP claims. OP also falsely claims we are dependent on NH imports from Russia, which is complete nonsense. 98% of out BG imports are from Canada. These graphs illustrates the truth: Production up, exports up, imports down. When did these trends change? It was around 2010. If you want to make it about political parties and presidents and votes having consequences (like the OP does) then be my guest. That's not my cup of tea. Information is king. Negative propaganda is for the suckers.
Yes, and if they're not they should. Go into any wooded area and there will be trees down. No one cuts down a perfectly good tree for firewood, that's not how it's done. Besides my own property, the national forest that is around me welcomes anyone to take fallen trees without any permission. It helps keep the forest floor clean and people can get their firewood.
Not really. LNG is not something that is readily shipped over seas. No matter how high Japan and Europe drive prices, they can only get what they can get converted and shipped. There is only so much capacity in the US to covert the stuff into LNG and then ship it to Tokyo.
Well no, I would never want to inflict that upon otherwise sane regions and peoples. My point was more that they should start planning ahead for things like energy consumption long before retirement. It's not as though we can assume things will stay the same in terms of pricing and availability. We need to empower ourselves with alternatives.
Where solar power isn't efficient due to lack of direct sun, other methods can be used for heat. Highly thermal-efficient housing can be built which needs no heating at all - even in very cold climates. These kinds of houses are increasingly being built in Northern latitudes (Scandinavia, The UK, etc). And renting is never a good idea. Unless you're very wealthy, it will almost always diminish your power to get ahead financially. This being a good example - because the renter is a slave to the market rate for utilities.
On the contrary, there is a huge amount of 'salvage' wood fuel available, and only a small proportion of it is actually deadfall. You should see the amount of timber which goes to landfills via housing demolition alone. It's literally mountains of timber, just left to rot. The majority of it is very well seasoned Oregon and other older hard pines, but there's also plenty of hardwood from floors etc. If you combine that with one of the new super efficient and very low emissions slow-combustion fires, and a house built for the conditions, you can stay relatively warm for the rest of your life without ever having to fell a single tree or spend a cent. I say relatively because much of it is about expectations. If you expect to wear a t-shirt in every corner of your house in the middle of winter, you're going to be miserable. If however, you're okay with dressing for conditions - and a house in which only the living and kitchen areas are heated because that's where we spend our waking hours - you'll be fine. Here's an example of a super efficient, zero emissions fire. The emissions from the primary fire are burned in the second chamber using the concentrated heat from the primary chamber. This second burn in turn produces additional heat. They're a little more expensive (around $6k), but that's nothing compared to the fuel bills you'd otherwise be paying over the lifetime of the fire, and they use considerably less fuel.
I'm not trying to be a total arse, but you do understand that natural gas is a fossil fuel....that needs the fracking process to be extracted and produced?? Do you? AOC's and her lefties want to ban all fossil fuels. ALL. That includes natural gas. They want to ban fracking too, which would effectively ban oil and gas production. Do you not understand anything about the O&G industry?? The way I see it you lefties ought to practice what you preach and quit using all fossil fuels and ALL products made from fossil fuels. SO, no electricity for you. No cars for you. No computers for you. No phones. In other words....go green. The Green New Deal is moronic and contrived by morons. It's nothing but a big government power grab...tax and wealth redistribution....and has NOTHING to do with the environment.
You must live in a special part of the country. Or maybe I do. People cut down trees all the time for firewood. That's not to say folks aren't cutting up fallen trees too, but that's definitely not the only source of wood for the people who live in my area.
