How often do Trumpsters remind us that 'Trump got us the vaccine fast'. Fine, but what president wouldn't have fast-tracked the vaccines, noting that the grunt work for mRNA vaccines were started with DARPA decades ago?

Thing is, how well did Trump handle the pandemic, overall? According to Dr. Deborah Birx, former WH Covid response coordinator, he was distracted by the election to such an extent, that he neglected his duties on the pandemic front, and it was so bad she calculated that over one hundred thousand persons lives could have been saved had he acted more responsibly.

I should think Congress should codify a new crime, called negligent genocide, and indict Trump for it, as a test case.

Oh, and as a side note, I heard through the grapevine that Brazil's (very Trumpian leader) Bolsonaro is being probed in Brazil for a similar incompetence in his negligent handling of the coronavirus, (Brazil's death count the second worst in the world, apparently) and some senators down there want him indicted. Guess who endorsed Bolsonaro? You guessed it, none other than Donald Trump. You know the old saying, 'Birds of a feather KILL together".

I'd laugh, if it weren't so tragic.

Orange man bad, so very, very bad, indeed.

Election ‘distracted’ Trump team from pandemic response, Birx tells Congress, saying more than 130,000 people died unnecessarily

More than 130,000 American lives could have been saved with swifter action and better coordinated public health messages after the virus’s first wave, Birx told investigators.
    [...]
Asked directly if Trump “did everything he could to try to mitigate the spread of the virus and save lives during the pandemic,” Birx responded, “No.”

The ironic thing is that REALLY, in that situation, a president really shouldn't have a lot of "duties". There should have been (and were when he came in anyway) planning and departments already setup for that sort of thing, and the selected medical team/czar should have 100% control...

The bare minimum a President should have to do is: 1. rubber stamp and push for what they tell him to do 2. Be positive (but not overly ridiculously falsely optimistic) 3. Lead the way in shots and masks (or whatever is required) 4. Get the hell out of the way otherwise....

Our zero was zero for four..

I just got from the library and started "I Alone can Fix it", the book covering his final horrible year... Many many more details coming about the T**** pandemic.

Also, Congress cannot indict T**** for anything... Something like that would have to come from the UN or the ICJ, and that investigation would be most welcome.

    She calculated? Thats funny.

What should we do with Pelosi. After Trump mandated the travel ban because of the seriousness of Covid, Pelosi went to China Town February 29 2020 and told everyone to come down and walk through the markets because California had it under control infecting thousands.
Should Congress codify a new crime, called negligent genocide against Pelosi for her part in infecting thousands?

What should we do with Cuomo. On February 29 2020 he told everyone to ride the subways and go to concerts as there was nothing to worry about while Trump had his travel ban in place.
Should Congress codify a new crime, called negligent genocide against Cuomo for his part in infecting thousands as NY had the highest death rate of anyone?

What should we do with Cuomo who ordered infected patients into retirement homes killing thousands?
Should Congress codify a new crime, called negligent genocide against Cuomo for his part in killing thousands?

What should we do with Fauci since it was Fauci and the Word Health organization that claimed Covid wasn't spread by human contact, then reversed that decision on January 18, 2020
Should Congress codify a new crime, called negligent genocide against Fauci for his part in infecting millions?

What should we do for Fauci's part in FUNDING the research that created the virus that killed millions globally?
Should Congress codify a new crime, called negligent genocide against Fauci for his part in murdering thousands for creating the virus in the first place?

Or are you so fixated on Trump you can't see anything but your own hate? I guess when you start Trump threads instead of factual content that really answers itself, doesn't it.

No. It is not a new realization that anything Trump does wrong is ok because someone else, anyone else, did something sort of similiar, in a different context, in the last 100 years.

A powerful weapon in the cognitive dissonance playbook.

Are you so fixated on Pelosi, Cuomo, Fauci that you cant see anything except your own hate?

some say Trump wanted the virus to spread and the reason Trump shutdown the economy is that he knew the economy was failing, and the only way for him to inject trillions into the mega corps was to use the virus crisis to do so, if that did not work, he would blame it on the virus, win\win either way as far as Trump was concerned

why did Trump play it down?

    Trump is all about Trump

How does a president prevent people from going to China town after Pelosi invited them to go there?

Except Trump doesn't have the power to shut down the economy. Those are exclusive state decisions.
At least we know the limitations of your knowledge on presidential powers.

I think we should be cautious about how we handle bad decisions politicians make. Sure, they make some bad ones, and it's usually very apparent in hindsight. But if we make politicians too scared to make decisions because of repercussions, they may get frozen and avoid decisions at all costs, which would not be good.
I don't agree with many of Trump's policies, especially concerning Covid, but voting him out was the most we should do.

By not telling America that Covid is no big deal and it will "magically" disappear while at the same time teling Woodward how dangerous covid was and how it was way worse then the flu.

That would have been a good start.

Oh yippie.. another "orange man bad" BS thread. hey @Patricio Da Silva why can't you seem to focus on the failings of Xiden who can actually do something now? Something like 400K folks have died under his watch. He actively campaigned against vaccinations. He continues to try to keep effective treatments of COVID away from the medical community today.. And yet all you can rage about is the guy who moved the world to actually get to a vaccine.

had we started isolating just those infected early on we would not of had to try a shutdown months later

    contact tracing, ect.....

had Trump of stocked the PPE, then we would not of had a mask shortage and of had to lie to people to save them for the medical staff

Trump removed the people from China and the White House that could have helped with the Pandemic preparedness
