of all trump supporters, the evangelicals are the most puzzling to me

can anyone explain how this most not born again profit is considered the "chosen one?" by so many people of faith and their pastors?

 

I'm sure some actually believe he's the chosen one or that he's godly or some other delusion like that.

And some support him because they don't actually take their religion or their displayed morality as seriously as they want others to think they do.

But I think for most, the support him because they don't have any other options and haven't figured out yet that you don't have to vote for a D or an R like the man on the TV or the radio says they do.

 

I've never heard of a Trump supporter calling him 'the chosen one' except for Trump himself, once, and that was in context of having been chosen as the first one to oppose unbalanced trade with China. And since its true that was part of his platform and no one else ran on it, its hardly false...

Everyone saying 'chosen one' as in 'chosen by God' in the context of a prophet are Trump haters and it used to be understood that it was an ironic and sarcastic quip, much in the same way righties used the term for Obama. But it seems some people started smoking too much of their own dope and now they believe it themselves...

 

He was elected to office so I suppose you could consider him the chose one. The voters chose him.

 

Oh I've seen it. They think God chose him to lead our nation to better times. I don't know what percentage of his supporters fall into that category, I'm sure it's a small subset, but they're out there and some of them are vocal about it.

Do they say they believe he speaks for God? Thats what a prophet is. Does Trump claim he speaks for God? Thats what a false prophet is.

 

I can't say I've ever heard someone refer to Trump as a prophet or that he speaks for God.

I've only heard folks say that God chose him to be our leader, God works in mysterious ways. I've ever heard the God chose him line as a reason to ignore his bad behaviors.

But never anything about him being a prophet or speaking for God.

The Christian right knows full well that Trump is an abject person, an unrepentant sinner, and doesn't give a damn about the precepts of the Church.

But he fulfills their political agenda, so they vote for him.
