Perhaps you could point out what was smart? US intelligence and Biden were saying 3 months ago that Putin will invade. Obviously Trump was fooled by his friend

LOL The whole point of sanctions is to cause the country sanctioned to suffer, Why didn't the "smart" Putin see this coming. Obviously this all goes above the head of Trump as he is clueless

It would have been nice if no member nation had waited until 2014 to commit to increasing their contributions.

As the savage invasion of Ukraine by the "savvy genius" has confirmed, a strong military coalition of advanced democratic nations is essential, as is non-military coordination to punish the aggressor.

Russia's currency is tumbling after Western nations on Saturday agreed to put crippling sanctions on the country's financial sector in retaliation for its invasion of Ukraine...
"The [ruble] has gone into a tailspin, and most Russian bonds, whether directly sanctioned or not, have seen prices drop to levels suggesting significant risk of default," analysts with TD Securities said in a research note.

In another move to isolate Russia's financial system, the U.S. Department of Treasury on Monday barred Americans from doing business with Russia's central bank, the country's ministry of finance and its sovereign wealth fund.

"This action effectively immobilizes any assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation held in the United States or by U.S. persons, wherever located," the Treasury Department announced.

Hate to tell you but if you and a couple other blabbing leftist don't bring trump up every day then he's rarely discussed. You are the only ones making him a focal point. We get it you loathe the guy; many republicans loathe him now too; he can't keep his mouth shut. The problem you go back to the lefty playbook and attack on falsehoods more times than not creating a reaction to give the whole story. Trump literally has zero bearing on the Ukraine, Putin or this war. But carry on looking like a Trump TDS cultist that can't let the guy go.

I was replying in the same vein as the poster I replied to. Will you vote for Trump if he is the nominated 2024 Republican candidate? To say that he is someone that should be ignored is naive

He wasn't afraid (rightly so) of losing the election to Biden in 2017...

U.S. Media is Swearing There are No Fascists in the Ukraine

America and Germany are supplying Ukrainian Fascists with millions of dollars of modern weapons. War, like Covid-19, are good for business! Only a minor fluctuation of the American stock-market. Even Stalin's Russia initially joined Hitler in a treaty of mutual support to share Poland.

America and her allies have forgotten the 70 million causalities in the WWII war against fascists. But even just before WWII Wall Street sent hundreds of millions of dollars in the form of loans to German Nazis. General Motors, IBM, Charles Lindbergh, Henry Ford, William Randolph Hearst, Henry Luce, and Prescott Bush were rabid Nazi supporters. America has been playing footsie with fascists for decades so it isn't surprising that they would eventually infiltrate the American government itself. Trump is known to publicly praised Adolf Hitler and still cannot understand why anyone would be against fascism.

The internet media and the mainstream cable propaganda networks has war fever whipped up in an effort to resurrection the very profitable Cold War weapons industry.

During the last few days American media propaganda and intelligence agent "Curve-ball" has repeatedly denied there are fascists in the Ukrainian government.

America, Russia, and Ukraine's Far Right

I don't know if this is any easier to say, but Belarus also can go by "White Russia."

Speaking of Belarus, they're (meaning Lukashenko is) talking about joining Russia, in the fight against Ukraine-- oh, and today, White Russia is also the country, guaranteeing safety, for talks between Russian & Ukranian delegations; I hope Zelensky didn't go, in person.

You didn't present a case, and you are wrong, about arming Ukraine but, on the plus side...
you completed the post, without writing the word, "strawman"

Yes I know. Sadly, some take it as a conviction(like the poster I was responding to).

I understand the Russian delegation is pretty low level people, which means pretty much anybody in Russia other than Putin or maybe Lavrov on a good day... Zero chance Zelensky will go anywhere until there's a cease fire and a treaty to be signed..

I just meant it's hard to say "Russia and Belarus are......." fill in the blank. This is obviously mostly Russia's doing, but we cannot ignore the countries providing assistance, even if we don't mention them in every post...

If Russia would be T****'s dream evasion from the US Justice System, could you imagine how excited he would be to go to White Russia??

It's truly breathtaking how divorced your pleasant little fantasy about "restored leadership" is from reality, Leatherstocking. It's as if the cowardly and disgraceful withdrawal from Afghanistan and now the invasion of Ukraine never happened.

It's time you woke up and smelled the pavement. Ukraine and the world is in this mess precisely on account of the absence/failure of American leadership that would have prevented this war in the first place. It's that void that Putin is filling and exploiting in Ukraine.

But to be fair to the occupant of the Oval Office, he isn't the only person who failed to exercise the leadership that would have prevented this war - the so-called "leaders" of our democratic allies failed, too. Whether that was on account of the failure to lead and act on their own or making the mistake of looking to Washington for leadership that never materialized they failed just the same.

Fortunately for the people we failed in Ukraine, they are made of sterner stuff than the people we failed in Afghanistan, but that and the aid that should have been sent to the brave Ukrainian people and their leaders prior to the invasion may be too little too late.

This is what REAL leadership looks like:

Surprising, you admire the democratic Ukranians, and not the autocratic Putin, which is normally more to your taste-- Putin not enough of a Fascist, for you?

What's happening with Putin, is what tends to happen with autocrats, Fascists not excluded: the overly- empowered leader, takes it too far, with serious negative consequences for his population, to which, the autocrat feels no connection, other than his being ever- watchful, for any challenges from them, to his power. Meanwhile, the wisdom of others goes unheeded, and often unspoken, out of fear of the egomaniacal ruler's lethal wrath.

Sure, there's been a good, selfless one, now & then, but there are a lot more Neros and Caligulas, than there are Cladius's.

By the way, a good ruler realizes that the main goal is not to look "heroic," but to get the job done. And President Biden is doing just that! Doing it, without sacrificing any American lives, while creating the pattern that nations will follow in the future, oftentimes, in place of war.

I'm sure he would think that name, had a pleasant ring to it (and that would be how he always referred to his new home, with an extra stress, on the first word).

Lukashenko, dictator of Belarus, is a very willing partner of Putin's; in fact, the two may be taking things, to the next level-- I hear that L. is thinking (weapons- wise) of creating a NUCLEAR family, with Russia.

This all comes down to two things- what people see- and what their values are.

I see the most incompetent president in my life, and I'm old. Whats more, it not by a narrow margin- but a huge one.
I determine this by what I observe- the ongoing violation of federal law in aiding illegal immigration, literally flying and transporting people who have not entered by legal means all over the country- int he dark of night.

I see the stupidest military move I've ever seen a president order in my life, in the abandonment of people, including Americans, and bililons of dollars in equipment- in Afghanistan.

I see a man who frequently can't form a coherent thought and sentence, who makes no sense when he does speak, who runs from relevant questions, who has often even forgotten who is president, who has been using politics to profit his family all his life.

This could be a long list- and should have two columns; what has been done right as well as wrong. That "right" column is BLANK for Mr Biden.

Now I'm a fairly intelligent guy. I know everybody makes mistakes, everybody has personal issues, personal prefrences, and no politician will be liked by everyone.
I like to think most of us are wise enough to make judgement based on the ability to do the job- the things that matter, not the personality. Of course, that is only partially true- and it is wisdom and maturity, not IQ, that differentiates those who can from those who cannot.

Now I don't think you are a stupid or ignorant or blind person. Those would be physical attributes. Some can't be helped. So that begs the question-

Do you not see these major performance issues, obvious undeniable things critical to the assessment of performance?
I have to believe you do. I dismiss the physical aspect here.

IF you do see them- and I fully believe you do- Why do you not consider them critical, or even wrong? WHY would you defend them?

That begs the next question- WHAT are your values? Those are the instruments you measure these things by.... and why are they not being applied equally?
I don't know you other than by what you post here; however life has proven that people's conduct is based on their values- what they permit themselves to do, which can be honor or dishonesty, denial, self-delusion to murder. Unlimited range of possibilities. BUT it's true that what's in a persons toolbox of acceptable values is be exposed not by what they say- but what they do. Nobody with genuine self-respect will destroy that value. It's worth too much. These things are personal issues. I read people in just this way, everyday. Some values are critical, some are insignificant. I put them in order of magnitude- what matters in the long run.

I'm looking at the things you deny, the delusions you support, the crimes and incompetence you ignore. All I have to do is ask- where would a persons value system have to be, how would they have to be thinking, in order to find that acceptable? Then, it's obvious. No facade works to conceal it- at least from anyone who knows how to see behind it.

Everyone, all the time, is telling the world who they are. They are also maintaining a facade, trying to represent themselves as what they think people want, or what they imagine themselves to be.
But- if we just look at the actions, we see past all that deception. What you do is what you are. Most people are far more transparent than they think- and are fooling themselves more than anyone else.

I don't think you can afford to see what I see; it would put you in very uncomfortable self-conflict. You may have yourself fooled, of course.
But, that is your problem- not mine. You need others to back up your view in order for you to sustain it.... I do not.

Nope was afraid of the corruption that was going on and he was correct. And no aid was withheld and arrived within the dates that had been set.

The whole point was to deter him in the first place. What he didn't see was that Ukraine and the brave Ukrainians would make up for our weak and feckless President.

Buying of the Biden family knowing he would do nothing while he built up his forces fooling Biden to think it would be a "minor incursion". He underestimated Ukraine not Biden.

It's what he could have done that is the issue, he's leading from behind now. He could have started SERIOUS sanctions months ago. He could have been arming the Ukraine's with lots more offensive weapons months ago. He could have announced that the Ukraine military would have the full support of or intellegence and logistics. He could have ginned up that same support with NATO and the EU.

But then $10 million seems to go a long way with winning Biden's reluctance to act.

Lol. You have no idea what has been happening in your desperation to attack Biden and promote Trump. What has been happening in Ukraine over the last few days has no effect on the economic downfall due to sanctions imposed on Russia. Most of the severe sanction were imposed after the invasion started. Deter? You don't impose severe sanctions on a country if they haven't done anything yet! Surely he did see it, after all, he is a savvy genius

There was 150,000 russian troops on that border in 2019. Who was president then? And no, you do not impose serious sanctions on a country if they haven't done anything to warrant it.
