Nope, people don't evolve, they just find new gods to worship; science, wealth, fame, or any other target that leads them away from the living God, Jesus.
"sin' is a Catholic construct.... designed to use the power of psychological guilt fro whatever Catholics decide is a 'sin" This is how Catholicism controls the followers. Of course it s tied in with some place they call "hell" as eternal punishment.............in the afterlife. and you wonder why many Catholics are so messed up psychologically??
I beg to differ. Not everyone needs someone/ something to "worship".............. Many folks live very decent , ethical lives following humane principles.............with one major "rule" Do No HARM." ( physical, verbal, psychological etc)
consensual adult relationships are not the same as any of the things you mentioned, did you not know that?
You fool yourself if you think you don't worship something. Even the Supreme Court has recognized secular humanism as a religion. In addition to that the things you call human principles are a direct creation of the Judeo Christian culture you were born into and grew up in. You don't think they just popped into your head out of thin air, do you?
So that's your new criteria then? Consensual and adult are terms have definitions that change with the whims of the public. You know, like what is a man and what is a woman?
Believing in or having philosophy based on constructive humane principles..............does not imply worshiping something or someone. or belonging to a group . The basic humane principles have stood the test of time............and yes, many did originate as you say.
I don't know what people say in your circles, but more perverted people do not make references to God, since they typically deny his existence. As for what pedophiles will do in the future.......how would you possibly know? How come you bring up homosexuals in every thread? Why the obsession? Most Christians admit they are sinners, although there are some who think they are pure and holy. He is the God of the universe, not the universal puppet-master. We live in a fallen world, and bad things happen here. Gays can confess too, but be it gay or straight, if you live in willful and habitual sin with no desire to stop, then why bother with meaningless confessions?
Quite true. Still, there is a problem when a religion promotes methods, attitudes and direction that are counter to what they claim their religion stands for. This isn't just a case of individuals not fully understanding their religion or overreacting in the moment. It includes what the organized religions actually want the USA to do both at home and abroad.
Uh, how about focusing more on actions that harm others? Are you harmed by someone being same sex oriented - something science has studied and recognizes as fully natural?
What is the definition of worship? Online dictionary says, "the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity"... I think I really believe in the scientific method. That's about as close as I get to worship. Moral principles are pretty widespread, and not confined to any particular religion or lack thereof. Most things about human nature make sense if you think about ancient humans - basically lots of tribes like large wolf packs. Tribalism, reciprocity, the golden rule, these are all things that help people get along in order to be more powerful and functional as a group, while also being almost paradoxically well-equipped to commit atrocities against "others" who are competitors.
That is worship. https://thenewamerican.com/scientism-is-worship-of-science-replacing-religion/ Scientism: Is Worship of Science Replacing Religion? "The National Pulse opened with this statistic in a Sunday essay entitled “New American Divinity — Part I: Scientism.” Writer Noelle Garnier discusses how faith in science appears to be supplanting faith in God and posits that the coronavirus situation — with scientists such as Anthony Fauci front and center appearing as secular saviors — may spur a further conversion to “scientism.”
So what defines worship? Fervor? Even if it's as broad as that, I still think it's perfectly possible for somebody to not worship anything... to just kind of exist and blow with the wind. My issue with religion, I think, is with faith. It doesn't require the illogical leap of faith to believe that the scientific method is the best means we have to determine how things work. It's cause and effect like knowing a powerful rifle will take down an opponent if it hits based upon seeing it in action countless times. The god described in the bible doesn't seem to deserve any worship, doesn't correlate with how the world works, and doesn't make any sense internally. What does make sense, is that it's the imagined higher power by people of a bronze age culture.
