The idea of disbanding the postal service may be an idea whose time has come, as it was an entity born when there was no other way to do long distance delivery, but it's not dead yet. It's dying for sure, between email, and competitive package services that generally provide superior service at a lower price. I can tell you that 98% of what comes into my house via the mailbox is nothing but a waste of paper and may the gawds help us all when it comes time to those ridiculous political brochures.
