14 students killed, 1 teacher dead in elementary school shooting

I say that from the beginning in just about any plea I make in this area. It should go without saying by now.
The Founding Fathers were probably the greatest collection of genius that existed in their day but they were not infallible. The 2nd Amendment was possibly the most serious mistake they made in writing the Constitution. IMO it came about in response to the FF's animosity to having a standing army, the coerced support and abuses of by the British Crown which was a major cause of the Revolution. It wasn't needed then and isn't needed now and its constant misinterpretation by fascists and other autocrats has been and remains a major threat to our safety and freedom. It should be renounced and repealed entirely

 

With how angry and mental most USA citizens are at this time?!

Naw, that would just increase the number of people killed. The only difference is that less people at a single point in time would die, but more people would die overall.

Is that your solution? Is the only fix to our problem that large swaths of people have to die?

 

And they do it because they know they can probably get away with it without being hurt or killed.

 

You might think that, but the safest place in America is at a gun show.

 

IOW, you fear law abiding citizens who have submitted to draconian gun laws more than criminals.
There is no cure for that kind of fear.

I am okay with school security, as long as it's actual police officers. I am against arming teachers and school officials.

But I do not see many parents being comfortable with their children going to school where there are a bunch of people with guns, especially if those people are not police.

 

A very small percentage of Texans carry concealed, and their schools are very poorly secured.
Mass shooters focused Gun Free Zones for reasons that should be obvious to you.

Gov Abbott made a speech and promised more counseling for victims (and nothing else), and one person in the audience stood up and asked if he will enact some kind of gun control, and Abbotts team started SCREAMING at him and calling him a "sick son of a bitch", and then he was thrown out. Wow!!!!

I mean........WOW. Opinions will NOT be tolerated. Only government opinions are allowed.

Teachers should be required to train to use a concealed handgun before they are certified to teach at a school with inadequate armed security.

Qualified armed volunteers would be far more effective than police.
Police are always a disadvantage when they confront armed criminals.

 

There where 3 armed gards in the school.

 

I want to disarm everyone except the police, military and those willing to submit to a stringent protocol of licensing. This should include criminals along with everyone else.

 

You think there's a law that will stop this sort of thing? A law that isn't totally unconstitutional, that is?

 

Police are held to a higher standard.

Teachers and Volunteers are usually not.

And I suspect that MANY teachers would not be comfortable with taking on the training and responsibilities of being a armed security guard in addition to being a teacher.

Penalties are irrelevant. Nobody but a madman commits a crime with the intention of being caught and madmen don't even think about penalties as a deterrent or anything else. The first and most important and totally undeniable reality is that you can't shoot someone with a gun that isn't there, that is all that is really important in this controversy

 

Be REAL, Golem! At age 18 or any other age, he could go anywhere in the barrios of San Antonio an hour's drive away, and have bought just about anything short of nuclear weapons from the CREATURES who peddle all kinds of firearms in those places....
