And a lot of red too.

No one is talking about repealing the 2a. A majority of voters want extended background checks or universal background checks, red flag laws, severe mental issues should be a factor when purchasing a firearm.

All of which is opposed by the NRA as "they will take your guns away" or "it will never prevent these deaths to begin with."

For starters, we are enforcing the current gun control laws. Gun control laws include felons, generally, are not allowed to purchase firearms, no one under 18 can purchase a firearm, and generally, no straw purchases, no ghost purchases, FFL licenses for certain types of firearms, some states like Florida and New York have gun registration laws for certain firearms, generally handguns, and some requirements to deny firearm purchases, depending on the state, and a few others. Adding to this or trying to solve the cracks in the system is what most proposals are being argued. And yet, the pro-gun crowd goes hyperbole with "you will take our guns away."

Lots are talking about that. And you are right, none of those measures will do anything to prevent these tragedies. They simply give the government more power, with the feelgood notion of “doing something”. Another politician ploy. It’s the same as their “truth board”, or their attempt at “vaccine passports” and other control measures. To them it is about power and control, not positive results.

If they were serious about ending deaths, they would work to restructure society, changing the metric of national success from gdp to happiness. But they won’t, because they view profit and power as more important than happiness and sanity.

No amount of laws can prevent 100% of anything. That is a moot point. The whole point of laws is two things: make it harder for certain people to violate such laws AND for society to have boundaries in what we can and cannot do.

United States is the most open and corrupt country in the world. We just call it lobbying. Does not matter if the issue is liberal or conservative.

You completely ignored the laws that we aren't enforcing. As soon as we start enforcing laws on immigration and laws on drugs and solve those two problems, come to me to talk about new gun control laws. The only gun control laws that will be acceptable to the masses will be to take guns from law abiding citizens. The latter is against the constitution!

That these things keep happening indicates a social disconnect, a changing morality that makes the most horrible act most of us could imagine seem like a good idea. You're right that it's a sickness but it seems to let barriers fall that once protected us from each other. I was born during WW2 and from then to now I've seen men do some horrendous things to each other, but this speaks to our very souls.

Take sensible precautions to prevent nuts from acquiring hand guns - as well as assault weapons - as permissive laws in the U.S. currently allow.

In Switzerland, with a high rate of private gun ownership, but very few American-style firearm massacres,

All privately-owned forearms must be registered and require a permit.
Swiss authorities decide on a local level whether to give people gun permits.
The police keep a log of everyone who owns a gun in their region.
Swiss laws are designed to prevent anyone who is violent or incompetent from owning a gun.
People who have been convicted of a crime or have an alcohol or drug addiction aren't allowed to buy guns in Switzerland.
Anyone who "expresses a violent or dangerous attitude" won't be permitted to own a gun.
Concealed-carry permits are tough to get in Switzerland, and most people who aren't security workers or police officers don't have one.
The few who have concealed-carry permits cannot transport them while loaded.
Gun sellers follow strict licensing procedures.

And you have no idea how to spell the word "militia."
    No surprises there.

Like the other MAGA's, you are running away from the real question.

If this crazy had not had access to guns, 19 children and two teachers would be alive today.

There are No losers when one isn't competing. I am not here to playing games. I am here to take part in discussions which turn around an introduction, with those who have something of value to offer which is real ans not a figment of their imagination or a gross misinterpretation of another's post...against the rules I believe.
Now across the last two pages you have not addressed the subject. You have spent your time insulting orhers and provoking them to à fight . And over more pages you have hardly mentioned the subject.
So since wasting time is NOT why I am here, but conversing with polite respectful honest observers of the human expérience, à group to which you clearly do not belong and since I don't care to converse with what one could call à stirrer of caca, you may consider yourself ignored.
As I said, not worth the effort.

The laws we already have are common sense, why aren’t they being enforced? Making more laws whole not enforcing current ones is just self amusement.

Other lefties/dems on this very forum have assured us that no one wants to ban all guns, yet there are those who wish to do just that, such as you.

In a perfect world, that would work. While we are at it, can we also ban murder, drugs, rape, robbery, assault, home invasion, etc. If we just ban those things, we'll never have to worry about violent crimes again.

How do you take away access to guns? That's like saying someone has no access to drugs because they are illegal.

If the insecure, gun-dependent dudes who need to mince around with a man-enhancer on their hips were to get their fetish under control, the democratic will could prevail.

The irrefutable reality is that a significant majority of Americans consistently support sensible measures to reduce the firearm carnage, but a minority keeps defeating progress via the filibuster rule, the permissiveness persists, and the slaughter continues.

Is it too difficult to require every gun Shop owner/exhibitor to register à unique number given to each gun which can be used to trace the original seller and hold him responsible for proving that all requires background checks were made?
I am avare that guns move around after sales but it might stop some criminally sloppy initial sales to nutcases.

Your call for drug legalization is as unpopular as the permissive firearm laws.

And most of all, the gun lobby, arguably stronger than APAIC.

Not much we can do to stop criminals and murderers but we should be protecting our kids. Maybe we could cancel the $40B to Ukraine and put that into security for schools. Locks on all doors, fences around perimeters so you can only enter through the front office and armed security.

I protected MY kids lives. They are grown now, I would never send them to a public school in this day and age, it's open to any criminal who wishes to enter the grounds.
