This school in New Mexico arms it’s teachers… principal, pastor and has an armed security officer.

Our schools would be safer if they were more like this. Notice how many children said they feel safer. 100% of them.

Although I’m still torn about giving guns to some of those social justice warrior teachers.

The mental health damage covid did to a lot of people is only showing the tip of the iceberg.

We were already a nation full of pill-dependent, welfare-state, single parent, violence worshipping people that want to defund police and put criminals on the streets even before that.

Protecting ourselves, our families, our cities and states is going to fall on us. Anyone in any profession who is willing and capable to step into the gap needs to do so.

Utah is another state that does this. FL passed some laws to arm them too recently I think.

    Good.

Our kids deserve at least as much protection as every other government facility.

Call them names and expect them to protect your children, you guys can't expect the "groomers" to facilitate your fantasy as armed teachers if you are going to dehumanize them.

No money for better teachers or curricula, but lets' buy them guns and rebuild the facilities to be like prisons.

I’m for better pay and more money for curriculum. As long as we remove tenure and the teachers unions restrictions on being able to fire non-performing teachers.

Do they have to be prisons? Can't they just be guarded?

Then we get rid of the groomers and move on to real educators instead of indoctrinators.

I think it's a good idea, but with some qualifications as follows ...

    1) It must be voluntary on the part of the teachers.
    2) Screening for suitability. Although a background check is usually done at the point of hiring, a new background check should be done before arming any teacher.
    3) Teachers who wish to be armed should be at least reasonably physically fit for their age.
    4) I would recommend a 2-week training program that would include legal, firearms training, some fundamental tactics, and testing. This training could be accomplished in the summer or on a gradual rotating basis using substitute teachers to fill in for the teacher's absence if the training is given during the school year.
    5) The training itself should be accredited by the state law enforcement agency that provides training to police officers, and it should be given by accredited trainers.
    6) Twice yearly retraining (one full day each time).

    These things are important.

Police officers and public school teachers make similar base salaries.

For chrisake, at the rate cons are battering teachers about non-existent issues, you're going to be lucky ANY teachers will be left in the next 3 years!

I was a teacher for 12 years. My immediate family has more than 75 combined years teaching experience. Why should they get more money?

So do the police. But let's stay on topic. If being armed was voluntary for a teacher, there would be no reason to pay them more. If this was voluntary, they would probably see it as just a safety measure.

Wow, you wouldn't even give them any kind of a bonus. Yep the con education mindset.

I believe everything you want these teachers to do in your list, every gun owner needs to do, including myself. Are you in favor of this?

    Why just teachers?
What about other staff, janitors, students, etc.
Why not require everyone who enters the school to carry a gun?

That is a very good list.
But why must it apply to only teachers?
That should be a requirement for anyone who wants to carry.
