Are you babbling once again about slaves on a thread that literally has nothing to do with slavery?

    Lol

The US wiped its ass with the Budapest Memorandum when it funded and orchestrated the illegal Coup in 2014. Don't tell me about honoring a country's security when you turn around and throw out its democratically elected President. Take that :icon_shithappens: somewhere else.

Whether you like it or not, the U.S. government is treating the deal as legitimate and in force. Also, Russia is the party to the deal and is considered to be the signatory that failed to honor its commitments. This is probably one of the main reasons why no one is rushing to Russia to get it to sign some peace deal - their signature isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

There was no illegal coup orchestrated by the US or anyone else.

There was never a promise, and the idea became obsolete when the Soviet Union dissolved.

The U.S. government is honoring its part of the deal. Because Ukraine did it’s part. Russia is the :icon_shithappens:-head who didn’t. And that’s why Ukraine is getting the weapons. :machinegun:

The Russians are basically just zerging Ukraine, to borrow the term from the world of real-time strategy games, by sending in large numbers to try and overwhelm the Ukrainians. The Ukrainians, by comparison, are freaking Protoss, of course :D

Well assuming what you say is true (it isn't BTW but we'll let you dream on) that would mean Russia is within it's 'rights' to overthrow the existing governments of every former Warsaw pact member (with the possible exception of East Germany) using military force if necessary and to then install pro-Moscow single party regimes in their place. Which of course leaves just one minor detail.

Just exactly how is the 'glorious' Russian Army is going to achieve that feat given it's less than impressive showing so far in Ukraine? That and the apparent utter determination of every single one of those former Warsaw Pact Members to remain firmly in EU/NATO?

Seems like Eastern Europe doesn't give a frig about what Russia (or rather Putin) thinks he has the right to do.

Never freaking happened except in your mind. Is hard to take absolutely anything you say seriously as it seems as if it is straight out of National Lampoons. You should go onstage doing stand up as you would get lots of laughs as a great fictitious comic.

You asked for it mr historian.

Memorandum of conversation between Mikhail Gorbachev and James Baker in Moscow.

"We understand the need for assurances to the countries in the East. If we maintain a presence in a Germany that is part of NATO, there would be no extension of NATO's jurisdiction for forces of NATO one inch to the East."

And this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ was repeated at least 4 times and put on paper. Speaking on behalf of the US.

    Deal with it. https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/16116-document-05-memorandum-conversation-between

Check out Italy's navy. Then check out Russia's navy - big numbers, lots of rust.
    Same for Canada.
If Italy and Canada have better military forces than Russia, and are richer than Russia - then how is Russia more powerful? Nuke? Can't use 'em without getting yourself obliterated.

There's two forms of nuclear war - tactical (small nukes against ports, airports, troop concentrations etc..) and strategic (hardened missile silos, cities etc..)
If there's a strategic war it's more likely going to be against strategic assetts of the other side. Neither side wants to enter a city for city war - punching big black holes in sprawling suburbs is a waste of valuable military assetts, and just inviting someone to do the same back to your cities.
But if America is hit in a city for city war with Russia then America will 'win' simply because it's population is well spread out, it has two coast lines, it has many more allies, it has a better military and it has a much stronger econom to help recover. Russia will simply exaust its missiles, kill a lot of people, then be wide open to being dismembered by the Western alliance.

2014? Wasn't that the year Russia invaded Crimea? Something about Crimea being a part of Russia many years earlier? Let every nation on earth reclaim its old borders, including Germany, Poland and Finland.

So this was an official agreement signed by representatives of NATO & the USSR? Do you have copies of that signed agreement Billy? You know, like the agreement Russia signed to respect Ukraine's borders?

Of course, the USSR ceased to exist the following year and the borders of Europe radically changed, so it would be necessary to create & sign new agreements with the new CIS & then the Russian Federation after that. Do you have copies of those agreements Billy? When did the NATO formally agree with the Russian Federation that it wouldn't admit former Russian colonies?

It is telling that you don't consider Russia bound by any agreement, no matter how formal, but you consider a conversation between a US official & the leader of a nation that ceased to exist months later to be eternally binding. It is almost as if you are just looking around for justifications for Russian barbarity.
