That is great that you were able to save your children the cost of college! I was also fortunate to have my parents pay for mine but I am able to see the burden that student loans have placed on many that are unable to start families or buy a home. This has been exacerbated by the disproportionate and detached rise in higher education vs income.

Yes, I will pay for it, all tax payers will pay for it and claiming otherwise makes you delusional. Money doesn't appear out of nowhere for the gov't to waste.

Sorry but if they accepted the loans, they need to pay them back. That's how loans work. It's not the burden of everyone else to pay for liberal arts majors loans. I'm sure many could've went to more affordable universities, just as we chose less expensive options since we paid out of pocket.

I first went to a low cost community college while working a full time shift in a factory. Long days and little sleep. No parties or social life. But it would have never occured to me that taxpayers should send me to an expensive college and pick up the tab. As old old person, I find the entitled attitude of young liberals almost incomprehensible. Liberalism is a cancer destroying America. The question for me is how long will it take. The USSR, the second most powerful country in the world experienced a total collapse of the country that took place within about 30 days.

It is ironic that Joe Biden, pushed legislation to keep people from discharging credit card debt owed to credit card companies, yet he wants college loan debt discharged and paid off by the American tax payer.

If we can spend 770 billion to bail out businesses with little to no oversight we can cancel $10,000 for each student. Why Americans are fine with saddling the youth with unsustainable debt when other wealthy nations see the value in education and provide it at no or very low cost is a mystery. Likely because half the nation have the mentality of I had to suffer so should they.

How many hours at average wages did a individual have to work to afford college in your day?

Just like healthcare, the left does not want to address the actual cost of higher education. Just focus on who pays the bill and tell everyone that it's fixed.

The one thing you can't do with inflation is spend your way out of it. Unfortunately, that's the only thing the Dems know how to do. Biden thinks if he gives people money, then they'll like him. Biden doesn't realize that giving people money is what got us into this economic nightmare.

A quick look at your graph suggests the law of supply and demand is at work, i.e., the availability of college loans causes tutition to rise.

Perhaps we should not bail out either businesses or college loan debt.

The comment about "other wealthy nations" is an argumentum ad populum fallacy.

Yes and no, supply and demand would indicate that collages have not increased in size or number. Neither of those are true.

You didn’t answer the question however. Has college gotten much less affordable since you went? Is this cost burden causing these individuals to delay having families or being able to purchase homes?

LOL funniest thing I've read in a while. So tell us where does government money come from again? Yes if it goes through we are paying for it and there's no if ands and buts about it.

Well tax revenue did go up so yea, they worked. Now that being said, spending needed to remain the same or go down and both sides refuse that notion.

Well low income kids don't have to pay for college anyway, there's federal Pell grants and other federal breaks, and most states have scholarship lottery grants etc. The bottom line here is, we already subsidize a ton of college and the govt money has lead to a boom of tuition cost helping, you guessed it the teachers unions. Follow the money....

I am not claiming the majority believes anything — I can easily show you data metrics that show other nations are outpacing the US on post secondary educational attainment and proficiency.

I remember paying $180 a credit hour after I left community college. It has gotten less affordable obviously. Due to the law of supply and demand and the avialability of college loans.

I don't know how many people have delayed having families. I have two kids in their thirties, both with teen age children who did not delay having families. One funded his four year college degree via military service. The other has a two year community college education that was paid for by him working part time and by me and my wife. He has no college debt and makes 90K a year. Both of my sons own homes.

Why are Americans fine with saddling the tax payer with massive bills they opted into by choice because they don't want to pay them anymore?

They are the ones "not paying their fair share of taxes" and now he wants to hand them tens of thousands of taxpayer money to pay off debt they freely agreed to.................

It's the liberal playbook. Presidents have no power unless they are republican, and then they have so much power they are going to become tyrants! It's hilarious.

Tell you what...............I will state what I support and and why and debate that, they you can say what you support and why and debate that.

If it you stating what I believe and then you debating that I can just sit on the sidelines and watch.

    Which is it?

BTW I opposed the second Trump COVID spending plan before I opposed the Biden and the OP expresses my opinion about lowering the excise tax, a use tax, on gas by passing it over to someone else. Those roads still have to be built and maintained and that cost will simple go on the deficit if we stop collecting that excise tax. That's why it is a stupid move to fight inflation and the cost of the gas itself.
