Authorities in Texas are investigating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over an operation to fly 50 migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts last week, a move that has infuriated many Democrats and angered locals on the island.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, a Democrat, said he was opening up a criminal investigation over migrants who were "lured" from the Migrant Resource Center under "false pretenses" and flown to Florida, where they were ultimately left to fend for themselves in Martha’s Vineyard, he said in a video message to announce the probe.

"Here we have 48 people that are already on hard times. They are here legally in our country at that point," he said. "I believe that they were preyed upon. Somebody came from out of state, preyed upon these people, lured them with promises of a better life, which is absolutely what they were looking for."

Maybe this fool thinks he'll become POTUS one day?

If the guy is willing to use migrants for political purposes, imagine what Trump #2 can do to the American people.

Nevertheless, this is another MAGA under investigation.

So what articulable crime does he actually think happened?

The governor of another state doesn't have any more legal authority to ship illegal immigrants across state lines than a regular person does.

I don't see it. I saw words like "lured" but that was it. It did mention "kidnapping" but that was from Gavin Newsom and he sent that "request" to Garland. Not this sheriff. So...what articulable crime does this sheriff think happened?

So, again, what articulable crime was committed? Last I knew a local podunk sheriff has no jurisdiction to investigate possible federal crimes. Even if you accept Newsom's claim of "kidnapping", since it was crossing State lines that puts it in Federal jurisdiction. Same with "luring"....is that even a crime?

They volunteered to go. They signed releases. They were given information packages describing services that are available to them, and maps. There were jobs available for them. I don't see the problem.

A democrat, acting way outside the box of his jurisdiction, believes he can get some press for his stupidity. Got it.

Except those provisions in the terms were not available. That is fraud.

The hugely ironic thing about the Newsome claim is that he in fact did it himself when he lured and kidnapped folks and sent them to Nevada......

I do not claim to be an expert on Texas state law. I am in no position to question a Texas Sherrif's knowledge of his states law. I assume that we will find out when he brings charges.

DeSantis will face federal charges over this though.

LOL... who will bring charges federally? I mean, the DOJ signed off on this when it was Biden doing it....

This happened across state lines. If there are any applicable charges it would have to come from the feds.

If he is then I expect both Gavin Newsom AND Biden to be brought up on charges as they have both done the same thing.

That was not stipulated in the contract. It stated a job was awaiting, not they had to apply.

First, what contract? Got a link to it? If it actually exists... What exactly did it say?

Jobs are waiting. Almost everyone I met had to apply for a job unless it's family run or know someone who can pull strings, like a government job.

If they signed a document to do anything, it is a contract.

"They are here legally in our country at that point" says the Democratic sheriff of San Antonio.
