First, I'm not a leftist or any other label you wish to impose on me. If you join a party it becomes all about the party, and you'll be subject to their agenda. I don't do that. One should adhere to logic & reason.

When capitalism/capitalists took over the indigenous New World and pushed aside the native culture, it became an increasing burden on all people (except the rich), the nation itself, and the environment. The natural reaction to this social & economic burden was to counter it with political organizations/parties that would push for government measures that would take back some of what the wealthy class had been stealing from the working class. These became the many social programs, regulations, and protections we now have. The right (funded by billionaires) twists this into talking points to appear as if the left wants "big government" and to take away your liberties, while the left sees these measures as imperative to at least ensure people have access to basic needs.

Second, I don't know what "positive government" is. All I know is that if not-for-profit-government-FOR-the-people doesn't step in, the for-profit-capitalists-NOT-for-the-people will completely destroy life as we know it. But because the people hold the ultimate power, it is up to them to oreganize & manifest this.
If government doesn't serve the people, then what is its purpose? The issue seems always to be: which people will it serve----the Many, or the Few?

The ideal government should function as a nexus between individuals & community----in other words, as a focus for mediation, discourse, and agreement based on logic & reason. It should neither make rules/laws, nor be in a persistent battle with the people, for IT IS the people. If there is such conflict, then government is not government-for-the-Many, but rather government-for-the-Few (ie, the Few have hijacked government to serve their personal interests).
You mean, the richer you become, the more "negative" government becomes for you.

Do you think slaves, native Americans, Asians, and even women viewed their founding government as a "negative government"?
You're not offering anything anywhere near logic or reason, but only capitalist-billionaire propaganda.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, as amended, protects employees and job applicants from employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. Title VII protection covers the full spectrum of employment decisions, including recruitment, selections, terminations, and other decisions concerning terms and conditions of employment. See EEOC guidance on race/color, religion, sex, sexual harassment, pregnancy, and national origin discrimination.
    https://www.ftc.gov/policy-notices/no-fear-act/protections-against-discrimination

    And...

The Supreme Court ruled in Heart of Atlanta, Inc. v. United States that Title II of the Civil Rights Act was constitutional under the Commerce Clause, which gives Congress full authority to enforce anti-discrimination laws onto private businesses in all states.

Keep in mind also that the Civil Rights Act and the Heart of Atlanta v United States ruling were enacted in 1964. This was 10 years after the Brown v. Board of Education decision banned school segregation in 1954. The slave-holding "founding fathers" did not foresee the future issues their new nation would be struggling with regarding systemic discriminatory practices. Discrimination was widely accepted (and expected) before and long after the forging of the Constitution.

So the issue is not that anti-discrimination laws are enacted, but in what way they are. Congress should be careful to enact such laws so that they don't infringe upon the opportunities of whites/others.
The "principles of freedom and limited government" are meaningless if discriminatory practices block or inhibit a segment of the population from equal opportunity & equal voice. A government truly for-the-people is not over-reaching its authority, but rather exercising its rightful authority. But it must do so correctly.

Regardless of the Constitution, it's best to do what's necessary for the good of all people and the nation, rather than imprison ourselves to the dictates of an old document forged by a group of dusty, wig-wearing slave-holders. We need to change with the times if we are to progress & advance beyond our common & often petty struggles----even to abolish the Constitution altogether once enough people come to the realization that we don't need it.

The Constitution is like the bible. It's words can be interpreted & twisted in so many ways to mean what we want it to mean. Rather than burden ourselves with a persistent, plodding analysis of how to interpret & follow the Constitution, it would be better to commit strictly to what is most logical & reasonable for the benefit of all if we are to create a real Utopia.

What "democracies" was Madison referring to?

The closest thing to direct democracies I know of exist in indigenous cultures, which have lasted tens of thousands of years virtually unchanged because they worked & the people thrived (that is, until they encountered white culture).

CNN reports, "New CNN polling in two critical Senate battlegrounds finds that Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly holds a narrow lead over Republican challenger Blake Masters, while there is no clear leader in the race in Nevada between Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and her GOP opponent, Adam Laxalt.

"The Arizona poll finds that 51% of likely voters are behind Kelly, with 45% backing Masters. In Nevada, 48% of likely voters support Laxalt, with 46% behind Cortez Masto.

"The polls suggest the underlying political climate in each state favors the GOP. Voters in both states are more likely to say the country will be better off than worse off if Republicans are in control of Congress (among registered voters, 44% to 35% in Nevada, 44% to 38% in Arizona), and President Joe Biden’s approval ratings break negative (39% approve and 60% disapprove in each state)."

It is surprising that a majority of American voters think Republicans can do a better job. The last time the GOP got to choose our President we got Trump. He thinks he is still President, and many Republicans in Congress agree with him. 147 Republicans voted to overturn the election results. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/01/07/us/elections/electoral-college-biden-objectors.html

Most Americans think Republicans can do a better job with the economy.

During the Reagan-to-Trump timeline, the Republican presidencies had four recessions start in their terms: one each under Reagan and George H. W. Bush, and two under George W. Bush. By contrast, Democrats Bill Clinton and Barack Obama had zero. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...versee-recessions-dems-recoveries/5235957002/

The Biden economy is on fire. With full employment, job growth, and robust spending, it is why we have inflation.

The GOP gives heavy emphasis on crime when attacking Democrats, claiming the Democrats are soft on crime.

It is safe to say most criminals use illegal guns. The NRA-sponsored Republican Party is strongly opposed to meaningful gun control legislation. The Democratic Party strongly supports meaningful gun control legislation to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, the mentally ill, and lost teenagers. Go figure.

Republicans avoid certain issues, such as their leader supporting a coup attempt on Jan. 6, 2021, to overthrow our elected government because he lost reelection by seven million votes.

The coup failed, so Trump had to pack up and leave the White House. He took with him hundreds of pages of classified documents.

The majority of Americans think Republicans can do a better job???

Still another factor, Republicans don't talk. As this thread attests, Republicans refuse to discuss the issues such as the issues presented here. They are good at lying, creating fantasies, lobbing personal insults, and providing cartoons, but the issues and what their party is doing are taboo.

Want proof? let's see if any Republican addresses the issues in this report.

"Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

If you can't understand why democracy is unstable and unsustainable, then you lack knowledge and discernment.

Two wolves and a sheep take a vote on what's for dinner - that's democracy.

France, like all of Europe, is going to collapse into chaos - yet again. You people never learn.

Sadly, Americans have abandoned the stability of republican government and embraced the chaos of democracy - so we too are going to collapse.

The coming collapse is both predictable and deliberate - but you see none of it. Don't worry though, the Elites who are running the show will tell you what to think and who to blame ;)

    Sigh.
I dint know how to start to make a conversation out of this garble.
All I can say is, whatevah.

Just that what makes democracy unstable are this who refuse to accept it.

Like I said, you lack the knowledge and discernment to understand why democracy is a bad thing.

And since you don't care about history and the lessons that should be learned from history - you are stuck.

You simply don't have enough knowledge of these subjects to have a valid and useful opinion. To be sure you have an opinion, but there's no merit to it.

You are tailor made for serfdom.

Read Federalist Paper #10... I promise it won't hurt.

The things I'm talking about are the basics of Americanism, and fundamental to liberty.

The fact that you're completely unfamiliar with any of these things is an indictment of the "education" you received.

    Word Salad

    Nazis were socialists.

We are a Constitutional Liberal Democracy that forbids totalitarianism by all, progressive puritans, commies, nazies, monarchs, and so on.

HIGHER EDUCATION IS A MONEY LAUNDRY FOR LEFTIST CAUSES: University of Illinois paid Ibram Kendi $35,000 for 60-minute Q&A.

They are in it for the graft.

all democrat politicians do is psychologically project, deny, deny, deny! destroy evidence, and since they control most of the big cooperations threw wokism,
and have most of the money, and have the majority of the media in America, that is how they can get away with murder, and being traitors.

We have far more book banning on the right. And the people who OWNED Dr. Suess's books were the ones who made the call to stop publishing some of them. Why do you think the owner of those works shouldn't have that right?

You are not quite there. Communists do not believe in the right to privacy and that the needs of the state outweigh the needs of the individual. However, communist governments are also strict disciplinarians to party policies and make no exceptions for that generally, not even one of their leaders. What this means is that if you violate a party policy, you will be punished, severely I might add.

Nazis believed that the economy should meet and adhere to the demands of the party, which is to further the interests of the country. The policies of the party believed that this could only be achieved by a pure "Aryan Nation" and that any undesirables are to be used and eliminated when the job is done, aka the Final Solution.

Universities paying people to speak is part of what Universities do. At my alma mater, it paid the wife of Anwar Sedat to come to speak and I was one of the lucky ones to meet and shake her hand. I was in a student organization that paid $5000 to a guy name Dith Pran. If you remember the movie the Killing Fields, it is about the Khmer Rouge. He was the real deal in that historical event. What this means is it is one of the benefits of going to a university. I have seen this from Dallas Baptist University to the University of Texas and everywhere else. Depending on the university would depend on who they invite or approve from one of its sutdent organizations whether College Democrats or College Republicans.

Neocons are the same way. Notice how Liz Cheney, for example, hates Trump and Putin.

There is no room for dissent among neocons and communists and that's why I wouldn't want to be in the same room with neocons and communists when they disagree with each other, er, when they disagree at all.

Don’t some Jewish people do hate crimes against themselves like fly nazi flags and spray paint nazi stuff on their doors.

not saying only Jewish people do it… as there was a notorious example of a white guy trying to frame blacks people graffiti his drive way.

I highly doubt people would fly the Nazi flag near the trump flag seriously knowing his support for Israel.
