Apparently she's not releasing the grand jury report yet but she will soon and we will find out one way or the other.

    What do think?

Are you for or against indictment?

I'm for it but I don't believe she'll get a conviction in GA. It will end in a hung jury.

    https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/24/politics/fulton-county-trump-grand-jury-hearing/index.html

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis suggested Tuesday that the special grand jury investigating Donald Trump and his allies’ efforts to upend the 2020 election in Georgia has recommended multiple indictments and said that her decision on whether to bring charges is “imminent.”

I don’t support criminally charging an ex president at all. It will reek of third world political persecution.

I hope so, it is necessary to prevent what Trump did from happening again. A message needs to be sent.

Anyone with a pulse knows nothing is coming out of any of this.

She hasn't indicted a single person in over 2 1/2 years of investigation. And as @Oldyoungin notes, anyone with a pulse knows why: There is no defined 'election fraud' law at all. The fraud statute in GA was meant for specific examples of actually defrauding someone(ie: falsified loans, bank account statements, etc.) not pretending to be someone you're not.

Since the criminal statue doesn't actually exist, it's not going to go anywhere. There's only so much of the politicization of the court that can be done, before making even more of a mockery of it.

LOL... are you aware that 2 1/2 years ago would be @ 7/24/20... WTF was going on then that DA Willis would have been investigating, ESPECIALLY since she took this current office in January 2021??

Her Grand Jury was seated in May 2022, so I would date her official investigation from that date.

It's not actually her call to release the GJ report. That's up to the judge, and she's fully against it until she's made her decisions, which seems extremely reasonable...

I think the judge should give her 30 days to announce her decision(s) to seek indictment(s), after which the GJ report is released regardless...

It's going to come out eventually... I've waited 2+ years to see that people seeing all the evidence think there's BOTH an elections interference and an election fraud case in Georgia (at least). I can wait a little longer.

Whether something might end in a hung jury should not be a consideration here..

Congrats... that would make it official that we'd have 2 tiers of justice, instead of the circumstantial case we have today...

I personally don't think ex (or current) presidents should be criminally charged for their actions while performing the duties of President. For instance, there was never a criminal case against T**** for his illegal actions in withholding the Ukraine military aid, since that was done with Presidential powers (again, illegally)...

Personal and Political actions should always be on the table....

Small potatoes compared to the terrorist threat of Joe Biden's classified documents that keep turning up. I think i just found one under my car seat the other day.
I hope your fantasy of Trump in jail comes true so you stop making 3 thread a day about it.

Democrats shouldn’t rush to eliminate Trump in 2024 because I believe it would a much more difficult task for them to beat DeSantis.

There are some issues the left will never let go of because of political considerations: Trump, 1/6, slavery and racism. How many threads are derailed with Trump or have the white supremacy race card dealt?

Difficult to see that ever happening, but it might if DeSantis wins the GOP nomination in 2024. Then they can focus their hatred on him instead of Trump. :D

I just cannot understand how seemingly normal news organizations (Business Insider) can come up with such bogus headline interpretations....

    Headline
Atlanta DA doesn't want the public to see the special grand jury report into Trump's efforts to overturn Georgia's 2020 vote

    Article (paragraph #2)
In an Atlanta courthouse, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said the report, from a special grand jury, should not be released "at this time."

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...?item=flights:prg-tipsubsc-v1a&ocid=windirect

FFS.... not sure if this is "fake news", but it's really shitty reporting...

Ey know they can't convict him in a court of law, so they'll try to convict him in the court of public opinion. That's the goal, anyway.

Either you believe in the idea that 'no man is above the law' or you don't.

I wouldn't support indicting the president for lesser offenses, but with Jan 6, all bets are off.

    There are limits.

So you feel they should be able to act as dictators while in office and the only punishment is impeachment? So he could literally shot someone in the middle of Times Square and you people would shrug.

I have to give him one thing — he knows his base
I hope charges stick and he rots in prison
