This lawsuit will go no where. It's laughable.

All states have approved vendor lists for the services and activities in which they engage.

The state of Florida is not refusing to offer an AP African American Studies course. They chose not to allow a particular curricular offering to be purchased by schools to use in teaching that course.

This is very normal for state governments in all areas especially and including education. If you want your vehicle to be available for fleet purchases by the state you submit it. If it meets their criteria they approve it to be purchased by various agencies. If it doesn't meet the criteria they don't approve it and it can't be purchased.

Saying a AASAP class cannot have Critical Race Theory in it is like saying a fleet vehicle must be electric. If you submit a gas car and they don't approve it you can sue but will you be successful? No.

The vendor of this course has not met the criteria. They can even remove the concerning materials and resubmit. However it is doubtful they will do that since this isn't really ugly history or anything else that is often used to justify critical theory and practice.

The concerns are stated and are completely valid. Intersectionality and activism isn't education and history. This lawsuit will lose.

What other group is providing a curriculum that counts towards college credit?

I'm not sure if it will be successful, but it is helping prove that the real goal of the whole anti-CRT thing is about silencing history, not about actual CRT.

The PDF that cites specific authors, texts and the CRT within them sort of negates your claim.

Silencing history is when statues are torn down, murals are painted over, schools are renamed and flags are banned. But that’s different.

Where is the course on white history? Brown? Yellow? Red?

Why is it ALWAYS about one specific group?

Is there something that precludes integrating all of American history and teaching that?

I learned about every one of those cultures in school

The problem with right wing wokeism is that teaching that slavery existed, is now "CRT". We teach about immigrant experiences every day in schools. You learned about Ellis Island as a kid in 3rd grade. But somehow, now teaching about slavery in 3rd grade is "CRT". You ever hear about the Tulsa Race massacre ? Thats on DeSantis list that cant be taught. How the hell is that CRT ?

And lets be very clear here. CRT is the study of laws and rules that were designed based on race, and how they shaped society. To literally whitewash that from our history is beyond ridiculous, because those laws existed, and still do in some places. Just because you arent racist, doesn't mean that legislated racism never existed. Literal segregation laws existed as late as the 1970's. To deny that is literal whitewashing of history

Did you notice that bullshit too? Too funny...

I'm pretty sure the College Board is the only group authorized to offer College level credit courses to high schools... or as they're now known in Florida, 2 more wasted years before you can go catch some pythons....

To the OP, a quick search would likely have prevented this duplicate thread.... assuming there's not another search engine authorized to search PF.com...

As I asked in another thread, when do we start to teach about slavery, kindergarten? And fie how many hours a day. Same thing with grade school.

How much time does it take to let kids know that Africans captured and sold other Africans worldwide, some of them ended up here and the first slave owner was an African?

Does Canada teach students about their slave history?

So your response to the *******ness of DeSantis, his blatant pandering to the racists in MAGA, is to blame Africans for slavery?

That is revisionist nonsense in order to denigrate racially.

Gosh, perhaps you have a source? a citation? no? just a feelz? so typical.. Your theory here is that if you teach kinds about CRT and Intersectional studies the won't be meth heads.... Laughable. Even for you.

Without the cartels we wouldn’t have a drug problem.
Without gun manufacturers, as the left would say, we wouldn’t have a gun problem.
Without Africans selling other Africans we wouldn’t have had a slave problem.

You guys only seemed to be focused on slavery. How come you’re not focusing on their accomplishments and only focusing on how blacks were exploited by other blacks and democrats? You guys don’t seem to be giving them much credit except for being victims and unable to overcome it.

You don't believe Africans played a key role in African slavery?

That is not CRT. All critical theories are about looking at all facets of society through a particular lens and then the critical part is akin to critical thinking via that lens. Only most people don't care to get into the post-modern assertion that you can view through different lenses or that the lenses themselves are both subjective and so our their conclusions which doesn't help when you claim to be coming from an objective and fact based curriculum.

In short, "as a black man" or "from my lived experience" doesn't apply to school curriculum nor should students be taught that his history or even proper reasoning. It's just opinion masked via characteristics like skin tone and sexual preference.

The other thread I saw was an unsourced opinion topic calling DeSantis a fascist. I provided several sources and I'm discussing the lawsuit, not just the legislation.
