You are absolutely correct, and I wrote "Alles" out of stupidity... honestly, I knew better but I just typed it out without thinking. Maybe it was subliminal? But you're right, of course, it is "Alternative", not "Alles". And I do know that you've changed your national anthem... at least I didn't mess that up with my negligence. Alles gute jetzt, na? ;)

    Ja, alles gut! :)
Maybe it could be some reason to play our "new" anthem. :)

The new Germany, of course. The Germany that's taking action and getting things done for Ukraine.

It is interesting, though, to see that when the Bundeswehr conducted its Großer Zapfenstreich 50 Jahre Bundeswehr (formal military ceremony and 50th anniversary), they still included what surely was the old "Deutschland, Deutschland Über Alles": * Be sure to advance to the 3:58 minute mark in this YouTube clip! * Joseph Haydn has always been one of my favorite composers! 8)

Nobody used "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" here.

    Definitely not!
While it is not illegal, the Bundeswehr would never ever play "Deutschland, Deutschland, über alles!"

It's not hard to explain the Russian warplanes' absence. Russia's old-fashioned air-war doctrine can't keep up with a fast-changing battlefield. And the Ukrainian army and air force, against all odds, still are mounting a stiff defense of the air space over the front lines.Sep 12, 2022

The Bundeswehr has played: "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit = Unity and Justice and Freedom".

"Zauderclown" Scholz couldn't stand the pressure anymore. Fore example, Poland was about to send Leos to Ukraine without German approval.

I wish Ukraine a happy Tanksgiving day. Slava Ukraini. :)

I heard that Abrams tanks are less suitable for Ukraine, because they need jet fuel. They can also be operated with diesel, but diesel consumption on Abrams is said to be supernaturally high, compared to Leopards.

Can somebody confirm or refute that?
    Thanks in advance! :)

Oh, please! I didn't say the Bundeswehr was singing "Deutschland, Deutschland Uber Alles"... but the melody I pointed out in the video I referenced is unmistakable. No problem for me... I like the melody, no matter what its name may have been changed to.

Did you advance the video to the 3:58 point as I stated you would need to in order to hear it?

Yes, and you're mistaken on this whole thing. The melody, composed by Haydn as you mentioned, was never called "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles". Austrian composer Haydn wrote this in 1797 and it was called "Gott erhalte Franz, den Kaiser". That's the original title of this melody.
Almost half a century later (in 1841), German poet August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben wrote a poem consisting of three verses, the first starting with "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" to express some notion of unity among the hundreds of different German states at that time as France was making demands on the Rhineland (Rheinkrise 1840). This poem was then combined with Haydn's music and became the national anthem. Things changed after WW II and today, as you hopefully know, only the third verse of Fallersleben's poem is de facto the German anthem. When it's played without words like in the clip, people would always consider it today's national anthem "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit". The naked melody was never called "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles".

    Well said!
    You are completely correct!

Yes: "Gott erhalte Franz, den Kaiser!" That is how it all started.

The English would have said: "God save our Kaiser Franz!"

    Gott erhalte Franz, den Kaiser!

It is true. Also even though it can run on diesel you really don't want to as it wears out the turbine seals much faster.
