For those of you who read the entire article, you might find out how ignorant we Americans are of the true subject of slavery because the answer to the question was assumed to be final: History's facts are set like concrete on the day we are born. America owned slaves, therefor America is evil. Not "relatively evil", but "specifically evil."
We know because that is what we were taught in school. And because we know that to be true we are guilty of an original sin and must atone. It is a moral cul-de-sac. We must destroy ourselves by renouncing law and order, history, common sense, and the common good.
How many other BS stories do we believe be true through no fault of our own because we choose to say "Fine. We learned that in middle school. Sounds good to me. Pass me the remote."

Now tell 'em about the history of Hati where they exterminated the evil white man for the benefit of the island.

I can fundamentally agree with the premise of our woke education system being filled with lies, half truths and lack of perspective for the purpose of indoctrination

however as far as I’m aware many other countries had abolished slavery by the time we got around to it, including Britain. Indeed, it was the fact that the Confederacy still had it that was part of the reason the Confederacy could not get the French or English to support them and even intervene.

or do I have my history wrong?

So, just because some nations abolished slavery after the US, does that make slavery in the US not evil? Boy, you guys are desperate with your rationalizations. This is almost as good as claiming 1/6 was not a violent riot because not all 1/6 protesters were violent.

There is a difference between rooted in evil and engaging in an evil act. And the difference is one perspective justifies tearing any institution apart that you feel like whereas the other one does not.

Hence why people like you really get your rocks off touting the rooted in evil version of history

Wait a minute, known white supremacist? If that’s true then why should we here care about his opinion? He’s trash.

I’ve never heard of the guy before but if he really is a white supremacist then whatever opinion or input he has goes right into the trash.

No clue. I mean it’s possible but I’m saying I’ve never heard of the guy before, and it seems like that was a good thing.

Edit: just skimmed his Twitter and yep, never knowing who he was is a good thing. He gave me some David Duke vibes too.

Just yesterday I ran across two individuals on PF who were unaware slavery is still intentionally enshrined in our Constitution. How can we expect people to know the history of slavery when they are unaware it is being practiced today in the US under protection of the Constitution?

Essentially our government did not condemn slavery, they just created a government monopoly on practicing slavery and deciding who the slaves will be. Ironically, it’s still people of color who are disproportionately the enslaved demographic. Coincidence? Can’t say.

Slavery was evil no matter how you slice it. If there is ever anyone who tries to soften it they are beyond ignorant.

Slavery was an absolutely shitty, inhumane thing that America willingly took part and there’s no way to sugarcoat that. It was also shitty when every other country or group did it, no sugarcoating it.

    Was…..was that hard?

What does that have to do with the US having slaves??? Do you somehow think slavery in the US was justified because Africans sold their own people as slaves???

    Questions-

    1. Who sold the African slaves to slave traders?

    2. How many white men died fighting to free American slaves?

First off I didn’t realize it was a competition for you. Second, the drug dealers only exist because of the drug users. You know…the whole supply and demand thingy. No drug users, no dealers. Just because there were slaves to be sold doesn’t mean people HAD to buy them. But I get it…you seem to want to justify slavery. Horrible.

You seem to want to place ZERO responsibility on the drug DEALERS. Horrible.

I don't think anyone here is justifying slavery. We would just like for people to understand in context.
