Which "gun lobby"?

The wealthy, media supported anti gun lobby or the Constitution supporting pro gun lobby?

It's an embarrassment that we need groups like the NRA to defend the Constitution from people who are unable to grasp the simple reality that criminals do not obey laws...... existing or proposed.

They say the same thing about guys in their 50s with expensive sports cars and I don't get all freaked out about it.

 

I’ve traveled a decent amount and I can tell you some of the freedoms we have here are just as present in other places so it’s not like we’re unique in that sense. These same places also don’t have malls, work spaces or schools shot up every week.

No, not aimed at all who own and use guns. It's intended in situations where many threads on gun shootings are eventually swamped with those posters posting photos of how impressive their guns are and others jump in with their comparisons and praises and try to claim that they are experts. It comes across as a tactic used to close down threads and the same photos repeated across threads. Do those people think they are superior for having a bigger tool

 

Or it could be there simply speaking because they have some experience and are tired of the overwhelming ignorance posted by the other side.

 

There's a lot of posters around here, sad really, that thinks anyone who questions the laws in our country related to gun acceptance and ease of acquiring as thinking they are all gun banners.

I think it's their little way of using emotion to make statements about others to make them feel important.

Did you ever make it behind the Iron Curtain before it was taken down or hitch hiked around the Middle East?

Did you get a chance to spend time in Yugoslavia when Tito was in power or Syria before Bashir Assad came to power?

If you have ever had to deal with the police in communist countries, I don't think that you would dismiss these freedoms so lightly.

Im not that old to have seen those events live, but that doesn’t suddenly mean I’m dismissing our freedoms, just saying that we’re not the only country in the world with them.

 

You're old enough to see what is going on in Ukraine today. The USSR was Putin on steroids. I believe that since the end of WW2 to today would mark the longest period of time ever that we don't see one of our major Western Europe countries at war with another, Germany, France and England primarily. I wonder why that might be? It might be because they have diplomatic skills they never had in the past or it could be all the American troops that stood between them and their threats from themselves and the Soviets.

 

You're right, there are other countries that have similar freedoms but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't guard the ones that we have.
