I made the choice to work at a union shop once. It was because I liked the job and 10 minutes from my driveway to the time clock. Pay was not great by any means but pros outweighed the cons. When the state law allowed me to opt out of the union I did.

    What's the logic here?
CEO's get all they can get and workers get the least they can get.

Maybe they wouldn't need more if it hadn't been for Biden's inflation.

Don't you think they should suffer a little bit, just like everybody else?

    Trump's inflation you mean....

I do think the ceo's should "suffer" a little like everyone else, if you call only making 15 million a year suffering...

I don't remember hearing the Democrats complain one tiny bit or suggesting it wasn't a good idea.
On the contrary, if he didn't, Democrats would have just complained and tried to use that against him.
So ultimately the fault is the swing voters. No Republican would ever do this if that's not what the swing voters wanted--or would be convinced they wanted.
Hard to argue against free money, huh? Now people are paying for it.

How about we tell this union to take another pay cut so the government can decide how Democrats would prefer to use the money?
Because that's kind of what they did the first time around, didn't they?

This is one of those things that if you’re ten years old today, by the time you’re twenty you’ll be saying it’s always been that way and be accepted as the norm. I hear AI now creates art. Think about that.

that's a non answer-if you are carping about the CEOs' pay, how should it be determined?

It's a statement made to answer your statement.
The subject is workers striking over the huge gap between themselves and upper management. Your position is CEO's pay is determined by a board of directors and the workers pay is determined by the CEO. You also take the position that CEO's are super special people and workers are a dime a dozen.
    Your position is shameful.

It's obvious that you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
When the USA was at it's greatest, the difference between a CEO and a worker was much, much closer than today.
    Why is that?

ah I am so hurt. My position is the market determines what the worker bees are paid and the market determines what the top executives are paid. that seems to upset you . Yeah workers are a "dime a dozen". I hate to break that to you but guys flipping burgers or putting parts on a car are easily replaced.

Less socialism? I love it when people who obviously are upset about those who are successful and prosperous pretend they have all the economic answers. If so, why aren't they prosperous, rather than complaining about those who are?

Don’t forget that it’s the truly skilled laborers (and I’m talking about having a talent resembling the ability to make music with a violin but using mechanical tools) that are not so easily replaced and have plenty of opportunities as opposed to jobs a monkey could be trained to do.

Management skills at the CEO level can be taught, but some have a natural gift for it. Seems they should be properly compassionated as they are as replaceable as the blacksmith once was.

yep, like I said, once AI does all the jobs people do, there may be an upside in the long run... or an evil side

Excellent for Toyota in the shortrun, but bad for the US economy in the long run. No unions, and Toyota makes a better vehicle. Whoops=)

Only because Democrats pushed and practically coerced him to. We've been over this before, FreshAir.

This is something Democrats wanted. Trump knew it would not be so good for the country but just did it because he had to do it to try to get the votes.

I remember four years ago there were all sorts of Leftists in this forum saying there was no need to worry about inflation, or even that inflation would be a good thing.

despite your condescending language, CEO's are pretty special in that they are the ones making the decisions that keep billion dollar companies in business and making it so the workers have jobs to come to. As for the workers, despite your sarcasm, you're right, for the most part they are dime a dozen.

You don't have to like facts, but they are what they are. If you want to keep billion dollar companies in business, you need the best of the best at CEO and if that price tag is millions per year, you pay it because without a competent CEO you have no company.

Again, the truth doesn't play favorites, it is what it is whether you like it or not.
