Almost 50 years ago, i shot what was then #8 all time warthog in Kenya, Used a 30-06. 222 was considered a bit light. Same for Impala but yes for TG (shot those two animals as well) Since we didn't know what we would see-we generally used a 30-06 or a Similar 308 but if we only were hunting Tommies, yes a 222 would have worked

223 with the right ammo is ideal for culling feral pigs. Especially when there are a bunch of them

30-06 and 308 are most popular in Africa since they are powerful enough for almost any game, except Buffalo. We used 9.3x62 Mauser for Buffalo

my two brothers at the time were not old enough to hunt dangerous game under Kenyan laws so the biggest thing we hunted was Eland. We didnt get any, instead we took Impala, Grants/Thomspon Gazelles, Gnu, Warthog and I got a great Lesser Kudu, plus birds. We ate everything we shot-we didn't shoot Zebra for that reason. My youngest brother tripped on a porcupine hole-its occupant ran out and he shot it with a 7mm. There were quills fifty yards down range

Yes a false choice limited to merely two options when there would be several more, a classic false choice.

"A false dilemma, also referred to as false dichotomy or false binary, is an informal fallacy based on a premise that erroneously limits what options are available. The source of the fallacy lies not in an invalid form of inference but in a false premise. This premise has the form of a disjunctive claim: it asserts that one among a number of alternatives must be true. This disjunction is problematic because it oversimplifies the choice by excluding viable alternatives, presenting the viewer with only two absolute choices when in fact, there could be many."

If someone is threatening you with imminent serious bodily harm or death do they deserve to be killed in order to stop them?

    A rifle/long gun doesn't have multiple purposes?

And that applies equally to others like say The Proud Boys or people who stormed the Capitol or is it OK to do so at the White House but not the Capitol?

We hunted in Tanzania, which is where we lived for 5 years. This is about 40 yrs ago and I was very young myself. The place was packed with wild animals and same was true with big game fishing. Once we shot 2 buffalo and we butchered one, and lions grabbed all the meat (except the head) while we worked on the 2nd one. It was only 50 yrs away but we didn't see a thing due to the elephant grass.

wow. we weren't near the coast but our professional hunter-who served with Montgomery, stayed in Kenya to be a professional fisherman (Mombassa) but married into a hunting family and then became a professional hunter-in the opening scene of "Born Free" he was the guy as the stunt double for Bill Travers (playing George Adamson) who shot the charging lions of the cub "Elsa". He also did the same thing in "Cowboy in Africa" TV series and some film with Victor Mature (he wasn't a fan) -the name escapes me. (Steven J Smith) My family is mentioned in his autobiographical book

    JFC, your embarrasing yourself…

I literally showed you that it was “adapted for war”.. FFS

Im sure your next post will be, “but the M16 was 2 mm shorter than the AR-a5, therefore it was not the same weapon.

Accept that it was, and move on …FFS

so what? the M4 is a military version of the AR 15. The US government sold us civilians hundreds of thousands of MI Carbines. I know-I have several that were used in WWII and Korea. those are real weapons of war that were used by American soldiers and sailors in WWII, Korea and Nam. can you tell me the functional difference between an AR 15 and a MI Carbine other than caliber.

what sort of weapons were the founders contemplating in enacting the second

    1) fowling pieces for shooting turkeys
    2) muskets, rifles and pistols useful for military purposes and self defense

The fact remains it was never used by any military. So there goes your Little weapon of war bull crap.

A smooth bore flintlock was actually used by the military so it's more of a weapon of war

the "it's a weapon of war" litany from the anti gun left is moronic because even their beloved Miller case notes that the second was about military useful weapons. what could be more useful for a militia than a military issued firearm?

Well, an AR15 seems rather purpose built.

I don't use the term DESERVE. the proper legal narrative is you are JUSTIFIED in using lethal force. and you use that to STOP not kill

well what would that be. you seem to be unable to actually understand that there is no difference between a firearm that is designed to allow a soldier, citizen or police officer to engage multiple hostile targets and a firearm designed to allow a citizen or a hunter to engage multiple static targets or animals.

Well, it is a carbine, not a rifle
