That is not going to happen. Honest discussion of issues is allowed.

Yeah, like Muslims break French law in the street, in front of cameras.

You do realise we're talking about a country where you can be arrested for the crime of "being a Tinker", and where they're trying to impose a dress code for religious minorities?

honest discussion is good, but horrific and awful images are just not needed.
he can say what he wants to say in plain words, images are needless.
but its your decision (i guess you are the mod) i respect it.

Those pictures are what passes for "debate".

And, yes, you could post many hundreds of pictures of western women who've been the victims of male violence - I'm sure there are websites specialising in such images - but it would make you feel dirty. And it wouldn't send the message you want, the message that there are vicious men in all countries, it would just start these sick people on a "torture porn" competition with you.

Yes, that is what they are doing.

Worshipping in the street like that prevents pedestrians and cars from passing through, businesses from operating and inhibits the normal function of everyday life such as travelling back and forth from one's house.

To block the streets and set up barricades, you need permission from the municipal authorities to do so. They do not have that permission.

Well, tough. Sometimes you need to break the law in order for justice to prevail. Ask Nelson Mandela.

But Turk123 said that Muslims wanted to be treated like Frenchmen.

Muslims are allowed to build mosques and practice their religion in France, but French society makes a clear distinction between the public and private sphere.

Spilling out into the street and obstructing traffic, both with vehicles and pedestrians, violates the private exercise of religion by forcing other people who do not share their belief to accomodate them within a public environment that should be open to all.

This is not an issue of justice at all. In fact, I fail to see any justice in it what so ever.

    All muslims?

Who knows, but there are certainly groups that insist of violating the seperation of religion from the public sphere, as the video shows.

Snake, I already answered you on this issue days ago, did you read the posted link I provided? Berners-Lee did not invent the internet, and even he will tell you that (see below). The internet is based on a US department of defense protocol that was intended to maintain communications in case of a nuclear war with the Soviets. That software network was later turned into the internet by other Americans. Berners-Lee assisted with the development of the World-Wide-Web, which is merely an application of the internet. The internet was wholly developed in the USA, mostly at the world-class technical college MIT.

Saying Berners-Lee invented thie internet is like saying Karl Benz invented the wheel. Berners-Lee merely created an application of the internet, and even then it was along with American Vincent Cerf:

    http://inventors.about.com/gi/o.htm...=0&zu=http://web.mit.edu/invent/iow/cerf.html

By the way i did google "internet inventor" and here is the 1st paragraph on the 1st page that returns the search:

"The Internet and Transmission Control Protocols were initially developed in 1973 by American computer scientist Vinton Cerf as part of a project sponsored by the United States Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) and directed by American engineer Robert Kahn."

So, both the computer scientist and engineer were American.

Here are some more detailed facts and history:

    http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/history/inventednet.html

Don't be sorry, my friend, feel good that you have been properly educated by this post (and by an American no less!).

I already answered both your and snakestretcher's assertion (twice now) that Berners-Lee invented the internet. Did you not read it? I posted it again today so feel free to read it.

The PC was possible due to the development of the microchip, a clearly American invention ans an area the USA still leads today. The computer you are o right now is running on an American processor, I guarantee it. here is no question about this.

Again, you are making a lot of vague assertions, but you cannot point out one thing in which I was wrong regarding US inventions (you did attempt to discredit the invention of the internet, but I have provided my answer to that twice now, but you and snakestretcher are clearly avoiding those posts to avoid learning the truth). Here is the post again:

LOL, what do you mean? King was a Christian and this was a legal demonstration on the capitol steps. No one was threatened by him and many, many whites marched with him. Educate yourself.

Why is it that the people who claim to be against racism the most seem to want to categorize us by race the most?

Red, your continued attempts to discredit America's inventions or otherwise re-attribute them to Europe are becoming more and more desperate. The cellular phone that we all know and use today was invented by American Martin Cooper:

    http://www.cellular.co.za/cellphone_inventor.htm

I welcome your sources or documentation that the "Berlin-Hamburg" railway actually invented the cell phone, LOL.

Hey, at least you are actually giving me some specifics to refute. Thanks for that.

I think your denial in the face of such evidence is agenda-driven. It is abundantly clear that the American system has done nothing less than bring the world into the modern age. However, a commnist holdout like you is wuithout a doubt in an acute stage of denial.

Do we need to get into how the USA defeated the USSR in the cold war?

As I pointed out we do not know that, do we now? I'm no expert on french law, I'll admit that, and I seriously doubt you are (with no offence intended). You do not even try to adress my point: How could this prayer even take place in a society where public prayer is (you claim) illegal and where the police is close to ommnipresent? I assume the participants had some kind of consent from the local authorities. You assume they are actively breaking french law in an effort to take over the country and the police lets them do this. What really sounds more likely? I brought up Dr. King's speech in an effort to illustrate that sometimes there might more to a demonstration/speech/prayer than simply the wish to topple the country's government through inconviniencing pedestrians.

On and unrealtedf note, I'm offended by your use of the word "pathetic" to describe my arguments. I'll give you that looking back I can see that my initial post wasn't entirely polite towards you, allow me to apologize for that and let's keep this civil from now on, yes?

And you can say that because you know the CONTEXT of Dr. King's speech in Washington. Let us say you've never heard about the speech before and you don't speak english. When you see the pictures and hear the woman in the background shouting "Allah Akhbar" what do you think? If you already have a negative view of muslims/blacks/whatever you might very well assume that this was an illegal demonstration (they are inconviniently filling the plaza and blocking pedestrians, arn't they?) simply because you don't knoe the CONTEXT of the demonstration and the speech.
And this of course is my point. The OP does not really know in what CONTEXT this prayer was held, but simply assumes that praying in the street means the muslims are taking over. I wanted to remind the OP that this video might very well be taken out of CONTEXT and with no background information about why the prayer was held and if the participants had the consent of the authorities. And to illustrate the point I brought up Dr. King's speech and pointed out that out of CONTEXT even this memorable moment in the history of civil rights might very well be misunderstood, just like the prayer in the OP's video.

Am I categorizing people? If so this is not my intent, please point out where you thikn I'm doing this and I'll try expressing myself more clearly.

The Nuclear Test Ban Treaty after the Cuban missile crisis was an agreement between two, very frightened, world leaders-Khruschev and Kennedy, both of whom had brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. There was no victory except that of common-sense over belligerence and bluster. The missile crisis of 1963 effectively brought and end to the Cold War. America didn't defeat anyone.

I didn't see a lack of permission in that photograph. Of course, intangibles like "a lack of permission" don't register on film, but I think we can infer permission from the well-known fact that minorities do not get away with anything in France.

The internet is useless. The world wide web is of value.

You're seizing on this quibble - "the internet" versus what allows us to get any benefit from it - in preference to addressing any of my points to which mention of Tim Berners-Lee was literally a footnote.

Now that is a very good example of what I was saying. You quoted me - but did you quote me saying anything about "cellular" phones at all? The mobile telephone was first used on the Hamburg-Berlin railway. It wasn't "cellular". Who cares? You do, because if the whole history of mobile telephony can be condensed to the introduction of the "cellular phone" (in America) and all advances before and since can be ignored then, by your own rules, the phones used on the Berlin-Hamburg line in the twenties were all invented in America in the seventies. Just as Americans invented pigs, salad and bread because, let's face it, nobody else is responsible for the BLT sandwich...

You never defeated the USSR, by the way. I did.

I don't wish to quibble, but I am not now starting (and, never have started) any kind of peeing contest about who invented the most stuff. As noted above, it's a foolish and bootless exercise.
