http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html It is blatantly obvious that this is true given the stats in this link. Number of abortions performed. "Forty-six percent of women who have abortions had not used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant. Of these women, 33% had perceived themselves to be at low risk for pregnancy, 32% had had concerns about contraceptive methods, 26% had had unexpected sex and 1% had been forced to have sex.[8]" "About half of unintended pregnancies occur among the 11% of women who are at risk for unintended pregnancy but are not using contraceptives. Most of these women have practiced contraception in the past.[1,9]" These facts are disturbing. Want to attack my source abortion promoters?
Am I missing something? Where is the evidence about legalised abortion causing more abortions? Everything in this link seems to be within the scope of legal abortion in the US.
Well this should end the lies from the abortion promoters who say making abortion illegal causes more to happen. The data clearly shows the opposite to be true.
The steady upward climb from 1973 doesn't show you anything? The Roe V Wade decision was made in 1973, so the entire year wasn't legal.
It shows an increase in the recorded legal abortions as they became available. It doesn't show the number of illegal abortions, before or after the 1973 decision. I'm not sure you can say anything more about that alone as you can say about the apparent steady decline since the 1970s. It's a perfectly reasonable hypothesis that abortion increased with legalisation (though not automatically a bad thing) but these figures fail to prove that was the case, certainly not as definitively as your thread title suggested.
There is actually not a statistically significant decline until after the eighties. I am comfortable with my assertion as the sharp rise immediately after Roe V Wade was decided demonstrates my point. Granted, there aren't a lot of stats out there on abortion numbers before 1973, but the sharp rise immediately after is very telling.
You can be as comfortable with is as you like. It doesn't make a different to the actual statistical legitimacy of your interpretation.
First you condemn Guttmacher as being a pro abortion organisation, and then when it shows something you agree with, you decide to use it? Laughable.
Do you have any rebuttal, or can I just take your personal attack as evidence that I am correct and you have nothing? BTW, where did I condemn them? Show me.
Actually it looks more like society balanced itself out over time. Since the legalization of abortions the number has gone up 3 million. Considering the number of abortions I'm sure were not recorded in that time period, I'd say this isn't a significant increase at all. What we see here is an increase in contraceptives and education over the last 20 years to promote responsibility. I'd say it looks like the situation is improving as time goes on.
Frankly its none of your (*)(*)(*)(*)ing business if a woman has 25 abortions. Keep your oppressive bull(*)(*)(*)(*) to yourself. You are no better than hitler.
Congratulatiions you have shown yourself to have nothing of interest to add to the debate. Take your newfound infatuation with abortion homicide elsewhere.
I think the point here is that .. So what if legalization has led to more abortions? First off .. it is a certainty that most illegal abortions are not reported. Folks do not normally try to convict themselves. It is likely that legalization has led to more abortions being performed in the early stages of pregnancy rather than later. This is a positive because in the early stages no living human exists, as opposed to later when things become grey.
Exactly why this thread should be closed. whaler I remember you from this site the last time I used it... before Obama was elected. You're the exact same as when I left man. All you do is make sassy responses to any post no matter what it is without actually adding any content to this site. A thread like this normally reaches 10 pages by now, I wonder why no one gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) to post in here.
