China achieved many of her objectives, although defending Cambodia didn't really work. Thus, that's debatable.

However there's no big advance between Russian. German, Danush, British. French technoligies. 1 country is good in doing electronics another in die casting and so on.

Russians cut a deal with a German military concern to construct a virtual training center for best, cheap and quick training of the soldiers and officers!

The British and Americans had their own "rocket" program. It was bolstered by Jewish scientists escaping the murdering Germans in the 1930s....the U.S./Soviets didn't just snatch all the scientists and use them to make new amazing technologies....they used them to enhance already existing programs. Nuclear weapons, rockets, and various other inventions in the 20s-50s were usually a colloboration of scientists from multiple nationalities.

Fair point, i was merely stating that eh german rocket scientists of ww2 helped put the americans on the right path with their space program.
Yes, your right, i forgot about us British, who had quite an advanced rocket program in the 50's..........but it seemed to dissipate in the early 60's, probably again due to lack of the funds needed.

This was about rocket programs, not about Jewish scientists developing genocidal weapons to be used against Europe.

Good point.......but overall the Germans have a larger engineering and scientific base than other European nations.

If there is one thing the Germans should be proud of, that's most probably their technology and engineering skills, which is a result of their specialized technische universities, I guess. So you can't beat Germans easily in this field. In fact most of the world have no chance at all.

    But Americans versus Germans?

    That's tough one.

I would pick the American one for space, computer, and military technology, for the rest, give me German one.

Very interesting opinions considering the fact that Sadistic Saviour took it as a fact that the USA would be easily more technically advanced.

That's because the discussion was originally supposed to focus on military technology. In that field the U.S. is certainly more advanced than Germany.

Really wishful thinking. This thread exists because there are people who think US military is soo technically advanced...

    LOL!!!

Germany is superior to the US in military technology? That's rich!!!

The US blows every other country on the planet out the water when it comes to military technology. Almost every facet of our military is technologically superior to its German counterpart. Infantry, artillery, special forces, fixed-wing, rotary wing, naval warfare, you name it, we're the best. The only nations that can compete with the US in terms of quality are the Brits and the Israelis...maybe Canada.

We are. We are far more technologically advanced militarily than Germany, or any other country for that matter.

    Brits, Israselis,Canada???

Suppose the US Army will need to enter a war against those countries one be one or all countries together?

How many days will it take to crush tbe Brits: 10 days? the Israelis 1 day? Canadians a few hours?

Suppose the US Army enters the war against the Russian Federation.
What will come out of it?
Where will this war end up?
    Nobody knows!

This is where the strange belief in the technological advance stops!

It is obvious that due to massive funding the Americans can afford more high tech equipment and put more money into R&D, but another question is who else has the potential to be very high tech, and Germany comes into this.
Its due to the outcome of the second world war that Germany has had to take, lets say a back seat military, but if they had the will to really build up their forces they certainly have the engineering and scientific base to do so.

Also as the Germans rarely intervene in world military affairs, a lot of their equipment has not been seen real world combat.

An example of this is their MBT 'Leopard' which is rated as one of a trio of the worlds best tanks along with the USA's 'Abrams' and our UK 'Challenger'.
The thing is the 'Abrams' and the 'Challenger' have been proven in combat in Iraq, whereas i dont think the 'Leopard' has.

Incidently, no 'Challenger' tank has ever been destroyed by an enemy tank
    (i diverse here).

Anyway, its true the Americans have a vast military which would overwhelm most countries quite quickly, but no one should underestimate the technology advanced Western European countries.

Actually, I would say the only nation that compares to us is Russia. And that is mostly due to residual momentum from when they were the Soviet Union.

But Russian technology is impressive. Their prototype stealth fighters are certainly superior to anything Europe or China has right now. And I would say they are comparable to the US in other ways as well. I dont think they are superior, but I think they are in the same league as the US in many ways.

And what also makes it impressive is that much of it is truly indigenous. It is not something they bought from another nation....they developed it themselves.

Russia.....your having a laugh, what abour us Brits.

Our tanks 'Challenger' are as good as the 'Abrahms' and they dont need refuelling so much.

Our fighter plane the 'Typhoon' is a match for any fighter on the planet.

Our 'Type 45' destroyers armed with the 'Sea Viper' missile system and 'Sampson' radar can blow out of the sky multiple fighters within a 200 mile radius.

Our 'Astute' class nuclear submarines make the US 'Virginia' claas looklike u-boats from the second world war.

and last but not least our 2 new carriers which are being built will be so advanced when there finished that when the Americans lose their carriers to the Chinese carrier ballistic missiles, they will be begging us to help them out.

ps: i'am only joking........but i thin u get the point

The Soviets were never typically that "cutting" edge in terms of technology. Their game was to design simple, cheap, and reliable weapons they could produce in mass. They had the numbers to overwhelm the West on the ground. Since the end of the Cold War (and a few years before) the Russian military has deteriorated greatly. They've sold of large quantities of their arms and "grounded" many of their aircraft/ships/vehicles. They have been having severe funding shortages that have certainly impaired their abilities in R&D.

Quantity of weapons is helpful, but quality is the main issue, as was proved in the gulf war.
American and Britsih tanks were able to take out a shed load of Iraqi tanks without the enemy knowing they had been fired upon.

I mean who would prefer to be in a Russian built tank, rather then an 'abrahms' or 'challenger' tank?

    LOL

The Typhoon would not last very long against the F-22. The Typhoon is not a real stealth plane, and would be very vulnerable at BVR ranges. No, it is not a match for any fighter on the planet. It isnt a match for the F-35 either.

Conventional fighters maybe...stealth fighters? Not so much.

The British military is comparable in quality all around. We just vastly out-number them. The Israelis have great intelligence and air force. The Canadians have good special forces.

I did forget about Russia. But we're still far superior to them in military technology.
