So at least 90% of sub-Saharan African workers left Libya in the first couple of months of the troubles between Qadaffi and the rebels and many of those that were left were the thousands of sub-Saharan mercenaries Qadaffi had recruited and who appear to have behaved badly in many cases during the fighting. So now I am supposed to feel sympathy for some idiots who should have left with their fellows and didn't and now run the risk of being falsely identified as a mercenary on the run? This reads like a nomination for a Darwin Award.

Here is a video of Blacks being rounded up in Libya. One of the rebels armed with an AK claims the Blacks are Gaddafi's men. The men who were rounded up beg the reporter to stay with them so that they'll not be killed. The report stays with the men until it's proven that they are not mercenaries.

Neither the Arab Street nor the Arab leadership likes Khadafi.. They are in fact united against him.

Remember when Khadafi called himself the "King of Kings"?

Nobody doubts who enjoyes murder and genocide in the ME - it is Arabs, Margot

Nobody doubts who enjoyes murder and genocide in the US, - it is Arabs, Margot, Obama and Democrats

The reason of the mass murder is well rationalized for all Democrats, - it is because Khadafi called himself the "King of Kings".

No that's not the reason.. Khadafi's career is the reason.

As I said, the reason of murder and genocide is always well rationalized by Arabs, Margot, Obama and Democrats, they do really enjoy.

I am very well aware that I make no sense for Arabs, Margot, Obama and Democrats when on the opposite, their side the murder and genocide are very well rationalized and make a perfect sense.

"Comment: So our Obama and Nato empower al-CIAda and now they are running around killing all the black people. Is there something wrong with this picture?"

    Wow!

This is a real dilemma for the hard core liberals in our group!

Do they now support militant and angry members of the Black Political Caucus who believe they and their constituents are discriminated against in America, or do they support militant and angry Muslims who surreptitiously support Al-Qaeda and believe they are discriminated against in America?

"As a loyal and concerned progressive I have no idea know which group I should now support!

Khadafi's military were black African mercenaries..

Black expat workers left Libya when the trouble started.

But not all blacks in Libya are expats so your contention is disengenous to say the least:

The native population of Libya is primarily Berber or a mixture of Arab-Berber ethnicities, with population of Berber-speaking and small black African groups like Tuareg and Tebu. There is also some Punic admixture, and a curious traditional element from the Romanized Punics such as the Roman toga can be seen in Tripoli's people and is used by Muammar Gaddafi himself.

In the west of the country, there are some Tuareg nomads, mobile across the Libyan-Algerian border. Tuaregs are also scattered over Algeria, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.

In the southeast, there are small populations of the Nilo-Saharan Toubou (Tibbu), although they occupy between a quarter and a third of the country, and who also inhabit Niger and Chad.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Libya

It is therefore churlish to imply that those undertaking the killing of blacks discriminated between resident blacks, ex-pats and mercenaries.

You can read about Libya's MIGRANT workers here:

    http://www.fpif.org/articles/migrant_workers_in_libya

I never said they were all expats..

Migrant Labor in the New Libya

Before the crisis, as many as 2.5 million migrants worked in Libya, making it one of the biggest importers of labor in the region. The migrants came mostly from Africa and Asia for jobs in the oil and construction industries.

The influx of foreign workers began in the 1990s, when, in response to UN trade sanctions, Libya increasingly relied on sub-Saharan labor to fuel its oil economy. More recently, since 2003, when Libya’s rapprochement with the United States and Europe began, the tide of migrants has continued to rise.

As part of the privatization of Libya’s economy, hundreds of thousands of workers have come from Bangladesh and the Philippines, as well as from other countries in North Africa and the Middle East. Some of them entered the country on legal work permits, but the vast majority came illegally.

Since the start of the fighting, close to 300,000 migrant workers have crossed from Libya into Tunisia and Egypt.

Most are from poor countries that did not provide means for their citizens to return to their home countries. Most of the refugees arrived at the camps with little but the shirt on their backs, having been robbed by Libyan officials on their way out of the country. As the men and women at the Ras Adjir camp in Tunisia explained, this was not the first time they had been robbed or assaulted by Libyan authorities.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you...My point is that blacks are being targetted and killed post Gadaffi on the basis that the perception is that they are mercenaries when this isn't necessarily the case. This is one of the barbaric legacies of post-Gadaffi Libya.

Are they? Or are some Khadafi loyalists twittering?

The migrants who were fleeing the trouble were being robbed by Khadafi officials,

Khadafi was pretty ruthless and barbaric.

It is churlish to deny that some Libyan blacks were killed on the basis that the perception amongst the masses was that they were mercenaries given that the mercenaries were in fact black. That is just a logical deduction Margot.

Okay, if they are mercenaries it is good to kill them after capture? It is not a crime, yes?

About 1/3 of Lybian population are blacks. And from the photos we see that the killed people were in clean clothing, so they were not captured after a battle.

They were killed not because thought to be mercenaries but because the blacks traditionally support Gaddafi since it was him who gave them equal rights (under the king's regime the blacks were discriminated). So they are killed to eliminate the part of population that can potentially support Gaddafi. Of course the killings presented as killings of 'marcenaries' to the journalists.

Libyan rebbles are taking out the hired mercinaries from Africa. The ones that workd in the fields and agriculture were being escored out of Libya about 2-3 months ago when NATO started the bombing on Kadaffi. Those that stayed behind, or were not able to excape on boats were most likely hired as mercs, given AKs and RPG and PKMs, to kill rebbels. Hence the current situation with the sniper attacks on the rebbels.

Libya is in a civil war and their laws are makeshift for what works at the moment, just like unregulated buisness. The rebbels are doing what they need to do to secure the area. Take no prisoners that may turn around and kill again.

You forgot about 1/3 of Libyan population being black.

Gaddafi gave AKs to all the population. In fact there are no facts of foreign marcenaries hired by Gaddafi at all (except the accusation by Al Jazeera that it was Israel who shipped marcenaries to Lybia).

From the linked photos we can see that the captured people are in white clean clothing with no trace of combat.

Genocide is also very helpful in securing the area.

This is a war crime you know.

Perfect rational of Obama and his supporters. Tea party members are terrorist. Other whites left Tea party when the trouble started.

The Democrats have been taking AK-47 from the american population, because Americans with AK 47 are hired by the terrorist Tea Party.

I think Margot is under the false impression that non- black Libyan's are somehow immune to racism.
